Did they provide screenshots of this behavior? That is indeed bizarre

I observed it first-hand

#

Forgot to get a request ID though...

#

I watched the customer check their account balance. They had plenty of funds to cover the purchase

When in the process did it ask for this? Was it asking for a tap via NFC? Or did it literally say "insert or swipe card"?

The items were added to the cart. Then the reader was triggered to accept a card by clicking a button in our POS system (working in production currently - no other issues - JS SDK). When the customer went to tap their 'card' using Google pay, that's when the error message came up

#

Happened three times in a row

Can you confirm if the requests ever made it to Stripe? In other words, can you check to see if there were any failed confirmations/payments before it asked for them to swipe the card?

I agree, that is an odd error that probably shouldn't be surfacing, but I want to make sure I understand where in the flow it's breaking down.

I was looking at the logs when this was happening and I didn't see any failed requests. I have seen similar errors when people try and swipe a card that has a chip. It looks the same as that. And the timing is the same as well

Which terminal reader and SDK are you using for your POS system?

Verifone P400

#

Google pay worked from my phone. And I haven't had any issues with dozens of Apple pay transactions

#

JS sdk

What version of the JS SDK?

Alright, thanks for working with me on all that. I'll file a bug report to see if the product team can repro on their end.

Thank you. Is there a way I can follow up about this later on?

soft cloud
#

Yeah, if you create a support thread via email and mention this thread (e.g. copy/paste a link to it in your message) then I can grab it and follow up with you when there is a meaningful update

#

Just let me know when you do that so I can go grab it

rocky radish
#

Will do. How do I mention this thread?

soft cloud
#

You can just mention my Discord handle. Just make sure you spell it exactly like this --> two-shoes

Awesome, I'll pick it up. Thanks for working with me. I'll reply once/if I get a meaningful update from the product team
