I have worked on subscription and I have 2 plans basic and premium
I used payment element for card details for which client secret key is required.
so I activate premium subscription for the card element we need client secret key
so if I refund the amount and again want to get the premium plan with the same subscription(updating ) then I am not able to get client secret key which is helpful in creating payment element

when you refund the amount, you canceled the subsciprtion ?
if so, you can't restart a subscription
