I'm not sure I can really suggest what's better, but if they need to use Xero then they need to use that account. No data would be carried over to new Stripe accounts they might create.

Hi - thanks for your time. I dont think I've been clear, sorry. I am building a new system for a new company within the same group. I am trying to build a business model for them based around the Stripe system.

#

I want to build a new Stripe system for the same client using the same bank account - but I don't want anything I do to touch their existing Stripe account.

#

I want to pretend the Stripe account and integration they currently have doesn't exist. SO, my question is, is it possible (or a bad idea) to have multiple Stripe accounts connected to the same bank account?

yes

#

as in yes it's possible. I can't really answer if it's a bad idea or not, as long as you and they both know that the accounts would be completely separate and share no data(and there will be no .e.g consolidated accounting through Xero across both of them for their finance department), then it can be fine.

That's what I was looking for thank you - to see there were no Stripe traps waiting for me with multiple API accounts linked to the same bank account.

And thanks for the time you spend in here too - as well as other places - I've never seen you not here ๐Ÿ‘

I'd say "not all heros wear capes" but I much prefer the idea you do

as far as I know there's nothing on our side that would directly cause a specific problem(I'm sure having two accounts with the same bank account does feed into a model somewhere but we wouldn't immediately take an action or have a policy against it), so it's mainly that it can have integration complexities to have multiple accounts

#

longer term we want to have much better support in the product and for platforms when it comes to operating over multiple Stripe accounts and consolidating things like reporting but today unfortunately accounts are more or less islands

That's great - and actually what I need. I can't ever know what trickery might be going on with a "special" Xero account - or what webhooks the accounting system might be listening to behind the scenes - so I want a clean Stripe slate to work with. Islands rule in this instance. Accounting integration can always be handled afterwards.
Thanks again ๐Ÿ‘
