Have you tried extending the capture-and-hold flow?

Normally capture can only last for 7 days, but if you re-auth for another transaction and release the previous, still not capture it until when you finally want to

For the re-auth do I need the user's involvement or can I do the re-auth with the same amount of money in the backend?

It depends on the payment methods. Some requires, some doesn't
