Hello, yes you can use hosted onboarding for custom accounts. As you note, custom accounts don't have access to a Stripe-hosted dashboard and there are other differences like it being your responsibility to reach out to collect new required details and such.

So custom connect takes a lot more development resources as you have to build your own version of a lot of the functionality that Stripe built for Express. The tradeoff is that you get more access and control of the account data, so its really a question of whether all the extra development is worth that.
