Hmm this is going to be tough... what you really want here is to use Invoices, but that isn't supported with Checkout

Unfortunately I really don't think this will be possible with Checkout...

Yeah the only real workaround would be to use manual capture here

Which wouldn't be a great customer experience

So you would authorize for $50 but only capture based on $45
