Hello @harsh cypress
No i am not using recurring[usage_type]='metered', should i use recurring when creating/updating the subscription. How is it going to impact the upgrade

harsh cypress

no, you don't need to use recurring[usage_type]='metered'.

The customer will be prorated for the unused time on the previous Price, and then charged for the remaining time on the new Price.

#

it's probably easier for you to understand if you test it out yourself

let say i have the following tiers:

tiers 1 -> free ->0 - 25
tiers 2 -> free ->25 - 50

Ok so the proration applies only on the remaining unit but not on the amount due.

In my case if he need to pay 0$ because he used 10 unit out of 25, stripe will proration the 15 unit to the new plan.

And for the one with a 50$ bills if he has 30 unit and need to pay 50$, the proration will just add this units to the new item

i'm sorry but i don't quite understand the scenario. you should really just create the test Prices and subscription in test mode to see how it works

if you have any specific questions after testing it, let me know the test subscription id and i'd be happy to explain further
