Hi 👋

#

When you say "connect marketplace" what are you referring to?

dark folio
#

is it called stripe connect?

#

stripe connect express

Express is one of the account types for a Connect integration.

#

I think you may be a bit confused about what Connect is and how it works

#

Im gonna go for "Collect payments then pay out"

#

do sellers list products on their own stripe account?

abstract vessel
#

That very much depends on the types of accounts

#

So for all Connect setups you have a Platform and Connect Accounts

My account type would be something like "fiver.com"

abstract vessel
#

that isn't an account type

#

Standard, Express, or Custom

#

But you're still getting ahead of yourself

dark folio
#

which one should I pick?

#

Would you be a Platform or a Connect Account?

dark folio
#

yeah I would have a platform app

Like, this isn't some answer that I can quickly offer you

#

You need to thoroughly read the docs regarding Connect and understand the implication of each type of Account, how you are going to charge the end customers, etc.

#

You can really screw yourself if you rush into one type of integration and only after you have a running business, realize you need to do something else

Yeah I understand that, it's just that I was reading this https://stripe.com/docs/connect/collect-then-transfer-guide and it's a bit confusing to me, because it says that you have to:

  1. create connected account (seller).
2.create payment link to accept payments
  2. add the product (t-shirt)
4.select the connected account to pay

So, part 4 confuses me, because I can do this easily manually, however, what if I have 1000 sellers, how do I scale and automate this part?

My question is mainly about "how to link each product to the seller"

Collect payments from customers and pay them out to sellers or service providers.

Okay that is all covered in detail in the section of the docs about the types of charges

#

This doc has some general basics to get you started but honestly I think you want to know which types of accounts you are using and that determines what kinds of charges you use. It's how you make the charges that determines how the revenue is shared out.

Well, if this info is in the docs I will find it, but I didn't think its there
