the idea is that https://stripe.com/docs/connect/oauth-standard-accounts would help you connect their already created Standard Account to your platform

Use the OAuth connection flow to allow a Standard user to connect to your platform.

but it shouldn't be used elsewhere

so if you want to add a new Connect Account you'd be better of with Onboarding https://stripe.com/docs/connect/standard-accounts

Using Connect with Standard accounts

Integrate with Standard accounts to get started using Connect right away, and let Stripe handle the majority of the user experience and user communication.

yeah, the problem is that using the regular onboarding flow the user gets the "another account already setup" error.

I'll try the first option, creating a oauth link for them to try

I know for this account you should use the OAuth, but I'm just saying that you shouldn't adopt this as your go to solution for all other Accounts
