I am not immediately finding a way to do this. I am guessing that you can check something on the related balance transaction but am not immediately finding what that might be. I will consult my colleagues and let you know what I can find here.

@kind bison can you clarify what you mean by this? Refunds always come from the Stripe balance.

Is there a way to know whether the Stripe balance had sufficient funds to fulfill the refund, or whether a payout account was needed to add to the Stripe balance, to then fulfill the refund?

Maybe this is a good exercise though, perhaps I can think about it differently

Ah no that is not something we surface anywhere in the API in that case. The balance will go negative and then we'd wait for it to go back to positive, either from other payments or a debit on your bank account

if it's the latter, you'd see a Payout with a negative amount in that case
