@wanton gorge can you just confirm I can create and apply a credit note against a specific invoice? I hope it does not conflict with Automatic Tax feature on invoices? I am not planning to provide a tax code when I create the credit note

You can create and apply a credit note against a specific invoice. Definitely.

regarding tax, I believe the product automatically accounts for that and the associated tax data will show up on the credit note object
