Yes. Sorry about the lack of clarity in my question.
We're a little confused and unsure about the Subscription settings. Under Manage payments that require confirmation it has options for 3 days, but under Manage invoices sent to customers it states 30 days as the minimum.
When a subscription renews or ends a trial: how do we define how long it sticks around with an unpaid invoice?
can you share a screenshot of what you're looking at just so that I'm on the same page?
typically you'd track the subscription status (preferably via a webhook endpoint) and control access to your service
https://stripe.com/docs/api/subscriptions/object#subscription_object-status
I'm not sure about the dashboard settings though as our team mostly works with API related questions
I'm looking but our support team is better geared towards answering dashboard related questions
https://support.stripe.com/?contact=true
yeah I'd recommend talking to our support team about this as I'm not really sure how you'd handle this via the dashboard
that setting is for collection_method: 'send_invoice' where you email the customer and they usually pay via bank transfers and such where it's normal to wait a certain delay before paying
So, then the top one is for collection_method: 'charge_automatically'?
PS: hey @rotund pawn it's been a few weeks. Good seein ya again ๐
the top one is completely unrelated too ๐
it's about payments that require an action like the ones that need 3DS or in India with complex mandate/card network rules
all you need to do is configure the retry schedules and/or smart retries and then we'll cancel if the payment ultimately fails
this part
Killer. Thanks for the help!
Oh, and this time you didn't have to throw a feature request change in! ๐
hahaha don't jinx it you're going to come up with one ๐
uuuuh can I complain about the wording in this settings page?
yes you can, then if I agree I'll do a jira :p
I'll be candid I dislike this page so much
we added some many things over the past 3/4 years and never really "cleaned it up"
You're an absolute legend. Sorry about making you go to Jira
๐
it's easier to jira when it's real user feedback than me saying "this looks bad" so go for it and I'll share internally!
Gimme a bit to finish this work and I'll give you something ๐
sounds good!
The settings UI hasn't kept up with either the search or the Products that stripe have launched. As a dev team who is fully leaning into Stripe Billing with annual rev in the millions, it's really scary to make changes when the settings on Stripe aren't clear. More anxiety-provoking is how to explain that these settings don't mean what is far to open to discussion and fear-mongering when our current and existing billing solution has it clear as day for what and how the settings impact our company's bottom dollar. Finding critical settings that could literally bankrupt our company and being forced to work with the Stripe support team degrades our team and our management's confidence in the new Stripe solution.
How's that?
