Ive posted this one to canny one year ago but it may have gotten buried.
Playing on controller even with current deadzone to 0 is a pain in the butt. The deadzone truly needs adjustments, it has to be much finer. Currently it doesn't even do anything to set the deadzone.

Anyways, tiling is annoying and I personally avoid it whenever I can, cause you have to be so precise and in story mode you have no undo button.

I added a video to show what's happening all the time. When you move, you may by mistake step on something on the floor, which lifts up the character and therefore your whole aim is gone. You can't place anything behind wall art or when something is on the floor, which is also annoying.

Hotel renovator has a good system for tiles.

The same mechanic as for the painting process, where you pick an area first then paint, but as an on/off option for tiles as well.
