Based on the ruling in regards to Defiant Rage's effects being lost, if a model leaves 10" of the model with leadership it loses the bonuses of Defiant Rage: https://discord.com/channels/836950369791377408/1405329472831357062. As such, if you have a model that is within 10" of a leadership ability that provides a triggering affect (such as Defiant Rage) and your opponent takes control of said model, that would therefore mean that the model loses effect from the Leadership (it is no longer friendly), and thus would therefore also then lose the benefits from the triggered ability.

So, as an example.

  1. An Ursine Shifted is 5" away from an Ursine Apex. It therefore benefits from Leadership: Defiant Rage.
  2. It takes damage from a Ranged/Magic attack, and so gains +2 ARM and +2 to its melee attack damage rolls.
  3. It is targeted, and hit, by Befuddle. The opponent takes control of the model, meaning it is no longer friendly to the Ursine Apex and so loses Leadership Defiant Rage. It therefore loses +2 ARM and and +2 to its melee attack damage rolls
  4. After it has advanced, control returns to its original player, it regains Leadership Defiant Rage, however, does not regain +2 ARM and +2 to its melee attack damage rolls.

Is this summary of events correct?

An alternative scenario:

  1. A cohort model is in Morozov's Battlegroup, and thus benefits from Righteous Vengeance.
  2. A friendly Warrior model is destroyed within 5" of the cohort model, thus triggering Righteous Vengeance.
  3. The cohort model is hit by an effect causing their opponent to take control of it (e.g. Befuddle, Rampager). The model loses Righteous Vengeance as it is no longer part of Morozov's Battlegroup.
  4. Once the effect is resolved, the model regains Righteous Vengeance, however, it is no longer considered "triggered".

Or, I suppose, you could just befuddle the Apex, and everything loses the Leadership? I.e.

  1. 2 Ursine Shifted are within 10" of an Ursine Apex.
  2. The 2 Ursine Shifted are damaged from an attack (irrelevant what), and so both gain +2 ARM and +2 to their melee attack damage rolls.
  3. The Ursine Apex is targeted, and hit, by Befuddle. The opponent takes control of the model, meaning it is no longer friendly to the Ursine Shifted models and so both lose Leadership Defiant Rage. They therefore lose +2 ARM and +2 to their melee attack rolls.
  4. Befuddle is resolved and control returns to its original player. The 2 Ursine Shifted, if they are within 10" of the Apex, regain Defiant Rage but do not regain +2 ARM and +2 to their melee attack damage rolls.
