#Ranged attacks while B2B in cover

Reading over the rules I'm a bit confused by the description for cover and concealment.

In this example I have a ranged unit in melee with an enemy model. Both models are B2B in rough terrain, which provides cover.

The rules state "in relation to the attacker" when deciding if the model has cover or not. So, if the models are B2B would the enemy model I try to shoot still get cover? I believe they would because they are still being shot with a ranged attack and their base is in the rough terrain, but I wanted to be sure.

Assuming you mean "rubble", it provides cover to "models completely within". So yes, they'll have cover. The reference to "in relation to the attack" is more for things that grant you cover when they're between you and the attacker: IE walls and obstacles and the like.

Ok, I figured that is how it worked. So if you are engaged where both models are in rubble or a forest while making ranged attacks, to not suffer the cover or concealment penalty you would need a rule to ignore it

Being engaged alone wouldn't negate that

Note that even with what @vague lagoon mentioned (obstacles or obstructions between models) being B2B changes nothing. Two models could be B2B with the corner of an obstthingy in the gap, granting cover to the one being attacked.

See this quality illustration: my cup and thermos are B2B but my keyboard grants my cup cover "in relation to the attacker" which is my thermos.
