Encountered a rules quandary last night playing, wanted to get an Infernal Ruling to be 100%. If a unit has Reposition and charges, do models that don't make it into engagement still count as successfully charging for the purposes of Reposition?

The section on Unit Charges in the rulebook specify that the success/failure of a unit's charge is based on the initial model moving, and there's a paragraph regarding sacrificing Combat Action if you're not engaging a model at the end of the movement/place.

Reposition states specifically that if you didn't Run or fail a charge you get to reposition.

We played it that since the initial charger succeeded in their charge attempt and that success/failure of a charge is based on this initial model, that a trooper not engaged would still get to repo.

Only the advancing trooper can succeed or fail a charge.

The placed troopers may or may not get a Combat Action, depending on where they are placed, but this has no effect on the above.

As long as the charging model (i.e. the one that advanced) succeeds its charge, the entire unit can still benefit from Reposition.

If the charging model fails its charge, you place the other troopers as normal and the unit's activation immediately ends.
