How does Grievous Wounds interact with Take Up?

Keyword: "has the same number of unmarked damage boxes"

This is not removing damage (although the result is in practice removing the damage but it's not technically a "remove damage" effect) so it's unaffected by Grievous Wound.

The model is still affected by Grievous Wound, preventing further tough rolls from future attacks or future healing effects, but not preventing multiple uses of Take Up.

So the original model is boxed and can't remove damage. Is it because the clause "this model has the same..." bypassing grevious wounds because "has" is not "removing"?
