#Curated email filter?

I would love to be able to opt out of certain emails for irrelivant products (weekly Warmachine emails when I have no interest in Warmachine) while still being able to receive emails for new projects, projects of interest, and sales/deals. If we could customize which kind emails we receive it would be greatly appreciated. If we could filter out specific projects, that would be even better.

Not a perfect solution, but your e-mail provider of choice may already be able to do content-based filtering. Might be worth looking into as a stop-gap solution in the interim.

It'll be difficult to implement a filter like that, because if there's ever a broad sale, you'll run the risk of missing a sale on MonHun because you blocked emails on GuildBall. Or something like that.

That's why you blacklist the e-mails generally, and then whitelist by message content for the things you want to see. Not all providers will have this capability, though.

Great point - but it just further reduces the pool of capable providers. I think my sphereMail server works more like Discord permissions where any blocklist entry suppresses any entry on the allowlist.

I just want emails for sales and events like the Vault opening, etc., and not be bombarded with up-to-3x-weekly Warmachine updates. I use gmail and don't want to block the word "warmachine" on the offchance that they stick the word in a SFG sale email.

And as bazz said, I don't know which takes priority on a whitelist and blacklist, nor do I know a list of every single current and future project to add to the whitelist.

I joined the discord solely for this reason, to see if there's a way to choose which emails I get. Warmachine is a great game I'm sure but I have zero interest in it and therefore want zero emails about it. Looks like I'll have to unsubscribe completely if this keeps up.

Yeah. Was a time I knew I'd be interested in the SFG newsletter, but Warmachine isn't for me, and it's drowning everything else out right now.

I've unsubbed for the time being, in the hopes that I'll hear in here when the situation changes.

Warmachine wednesday has expanded to 3 days a week

#

Or just like, move Warmachine to a new newsletter.

Agreed.

But I agree, we are at the point where people should be able to select by category.

Yeah, right now it just looks like there's one mailer going out, probably manually fired.

Having multiple streams of mailers where they're all manually fired adds a lot of space for human error - and in the case of MailChimp I know that if you want to have multiple mailing list ("audiences") that's where they can start charging you more money.

But this is all Chynna's domain. I'm glad I don't have to do marketing implementations anymore, there's only so many spam cannons you can build before you start to take ability score damage.

ty sfg this is everything I hoped for

I have tried this. I unsubscribed and then resubbed and did check only Warmachine content. I still keep receiving other messages (some Bardsung stuff just a moment ago).

#

So it seems if I don't want to get the many messages about games I'm not interested I need to completely unsubscribe. A pity but too many is too many

I got a warmachine app update email last week and tried unsubbing and resubbing with a few selections only, we'll see if it works

Yeah np, I'm at least not getting 3+ per week, maybe warmachine wednesday is labelled under SFG News or something

Hey guys, appreciate this feedback. We're actually working on improved segmentation, partly because the addition of Warmachine has increased email volume.

The tricky bit for us is making sure people are actually getting news, because not everyone will update their preferences to hear about new stuff. So, people might never learn something exists, even if it's something they might be interested in, if you see what I mean.

Still, it is something we're looking at, because we want to make sure people are getting information they actually want.

I suspect because you've previously opened Warmachine content, you've dropped into the 'engaged' segment — I'll take that forward as part of the review.

I've never checked anything else except Warmachine tick box and I've certainly not opened these other contents. Still I'm getting for example this Bardsung stuff which I'm not interested in

Working? So the intention is to send messages even though one doesn't want them?

Sometimes I really should just go to bed.

Oh ok, no problem. I was re-reading my message and couldn't understand

Updated my preferences again earlier with the updated preferences tool and still got a warmachine app update

#

Maybe it's something with the top 3? I unsubbed again and resubbed with the preferences page with only these selected.

It is impossible to uncheck all of the top boxes. That's probably the issue why these mails keep coming and coming. No matter what you select below you will get emails anyway.

No, I'd prefer Lessmachine, if you don't mind.

I actually got no sfg emails this week

Neither did I because I unsubscribed as there was no other way to avoid the constant spam about products I'm not interested in

It's been more than a year, and this still applies. I have unchecked "Warmachine" with extreme predjudice (ie check, save, uncheck, save) and still I get spammed at least once a week.
I don't care if it's deliberate or due to incompetence, I just want it to stop.

I think they just took me off their mailing list. Now I don't get any emails no matter which setting I choose lol. Doesn't matter to me anymore, out of sight out of mind.
