We do have a question about the function of powerful Attack and Open Fire.
Generally the rule says under Cortex of the warjacks that "Unless otherwise stated, a warjack can spend focus points only during its activation."
Open fire lets one Cohort model shot make one basic ranged attack in the activation of the Warcaster/Warlock.
The rules of Powerful Attack says: "When attacking with this weapon, this model can spend 1 focus point to boost all attack and damage rolls for the attack." So the ability "Powerful Attack" lets you spend 1 focus point to boost atk and dmg roll.
Can i do this even with the shots from Open Fire? I would assume yes, even thou it does not say that this ability allowing the warjack this outside of his activation.
But if we look to other abilities, like "Arcane Vortex"-Head from Orgoth or even the "Generator" -> Power Field special rule abilities from e.g. Dusk the general assumption is that you can ofc. "reinforce the Power Field" or cancel spells with the "Arcane Vortex "Head, even thou its out of activation of the warjack and the abilitys do not state that a warjack can spend focus on using them even outside of activation.
Could you please clarify this for me and my fellow friends.
