With how it appears on the scope, yes. With how it works in-game, no. The radar does physically āseeā what is in front of it though. True raycasting. So it does pick up the aspect of the aircraft from what the waves see

What I learned on release day: Jester is better in the F-4 than the F-14. (Even without Pulse Doppler) Human WSO is really fun. Again, thanks Bitzs for sharing the Phantom with me tonight.
Pave Spike TGP is fun and challenging with GBU-12s, however, 10/24s might be easier / necessary for larger damage AoE.
Cold Start is super easy, will have to try cartridge start tomorrow. Multi crew is still a big buggy.
Takeoffs: get that nose up and hold it up. landings: come in faster than you think, heavy landings need a lot of thrust, and a lower AoA. Raise your seat if needed.
Tanking: Stupid easy, if you are steady with the controls. Raise your seat, level eyes with top of HUD glass. Set KC-135 belly antenna above center mirror. Listen to Jester.
Mavericks: Stupid Easy.
Set direct, TV, set display to TV, WSO set camera to Weapon, wait three minutes set stopwatch. Click Trigger to activate. Literally four buttons once warmed up. Pilot: AAR release to slew, slew, trigger to zoom if D or G, release AAR button. Pickle / Bomb Rel.
Want to try Shrikes soon. Gotta also try cluster bombs and gun pods.
If taking it easy, fuel is no issue for a couple hundred miles of flying. Remember to set external tank to transfer when carrying, donāt run on internals only.

Not having external switches and buttons outside of the controls would be less of an issue as you say you play in VR exclusively

Part of the fun for me is the tactile sense of pressing buttons, flipping switches and spinning dials. I'm considering the Virpil Control Panel as it looks like a big ol fidget spinner to me.

C is the older air superiority version and is low-fidelty in dcs (meaning it has bare bones avionics and no clickable cockpit(
E is the newer air to ground version with mfds and is full fidelity in dcs (clickable cockpit and more in depth avionics)
not a slouch in air to air though
They're both worth their price imo but the F-15E module is wrapped up in some drama right now and it may not be supported for the foreseeable future

There's 2 things I would recommend. Either,

The FC3 Pack on Sale: Comes with a bunch of low fidelity planes but lets you dip your toes in a bunch of gameplay loops while being relatively easy to learn

Pick a plane that you want to learn the heck out of. Something that makes you go "dam I want to do some insert aircraft gaming today". It seems like you're gravitating towards the strike eagle which (as of now) is a pretty decent module
The FC3 pack also comes with the F-15C
again, take advantage of the free trials you can get on the standalone version of dcs

there is a T-45 Goshawk mod that is absolutely fabulous! I love just flying it around. I think it even has some training rockets and GPB's, though I've not tried them out in that module yet. The flight dynamics are great, so it's a sweet little jet to practice stick and rudder skills with.
It's a 2 seater as well, so you can fly with a friend!
