Really wanted to add a lascannon hull to the spartan, not sure if the artificer armor is worth it on the apothecaries and sergeant of the bike squad or if I should put points into the lascannon hull for the spartan instead. My plan is to run the Lion in the Spartan with 10 terminators, 2 units of 20 tac marines with an apothecary each for the feel no pain, 1 dreadnought for a distraction, 6 man squad of outriders with twin-linked plasma and being supported by a herald on bike to become line and fearless with fear (1), and an apothecary on a bike for the feel no pain. I have an event I want to attend, it would be my first tournament and I don't want to win every game I just want to experience a tournament and play what I think looks cool. Would taking out all the artificer armor and graviton gun from the dreadnought and giving the outriders plasma repeaters or burn burners be a better option, or will regular twinlinked plasma guns on bikers be much better? Would love any opinions. I also don't know if terminators should be dreadwing so the spartan gets dreadwing too or stay stormwing so they get +1 to hit on combi-bolters.

Now that I am thinking about it, dreadwing on my terminators might be solid to make the spartan tankier since it will be transporting Lion and them

Lets start with some straight suggestions: If you stick the Lion into the Terminators they dont really need a Vexilla or an Augury Scanner (and the Lion has Frag Grenades so i THINK they dont need the Harness aswell).

My guess is that this is a list out of the AoD Boxset right? So you are a little more restricted on your unit choises. (Otherwhise I would suggest replacing the Terminators with inner Circle)

Terminator Hexagramaton choises are a weired one. They dont have a "go to" choise, unlike most units.

The question is: Does the flare-shielded Spartan gains anything from beeing Dreadwing?

Yeah it’s using the AoD as a foundation.

And I think, since I’m not near my book right now, dreadwing made it so things like plasma and melta hurt the spartan less

That was the thinking behind dreadwing terminators and spartan

The Spartans hull mounted bolter is a heavy bolter or combi? If it’s combi I think it would benefit from stormwing

A problem in general with the list in general might be that you have 2 huge point graves with a 1.5k Deathstar and 400 pts bikes. So if the enemy avoids the deathstar or focuses their ride it might be a though game.

Ah ok I think stormwing rule was specifically bolter, combi bolter and bolt pistol. So I really don’t know what wing to make the spartan/terminators. I wonder if Since Lion is using the spartan as transport it can be any wing I want

The 2x20 man tactical squads would be getting a 5+ feel no pain from apothecary and stubborn for storm of war and since they won’t be moving much at all once they reach an objective they’ll be getting 60 shots each with fury of the legion and rapid fire I think

As stated above I dont really think you need dreadwing (or Stormwing) for the spartan.

I would drop the scanner and vexilla on the termi squad and get your tac squad's sergeant artificer armour. 🙂

Can it still transport if it is taken as heavy support?

So maybe on top of the advice you gave me, make the termies into dreadwing to make them a little tankier to plasma, flame, volkite, and phosphex. Make the spartan a heavy support with ironwing for the re roll hits of 1 against vehicles and snap shots at bs 2 instead of bs 1?

I am not sure if you really need the herald as the squad probably will not survive the game (my bikes never do). You could get one on food and stick him into the terminators to get another tanky (and scary) scoring blob.

holding a enemies backfield objective with the bikes might be valid too.

tbh I dont know what snapshot is, I thought maybe it was a weapon profile rule and I saw lascannons didn't have such a rule, I will have to check in about an hour when I can look at my book
