Heya, got this list I ported over from HH1 and turns out I have points left over (woo). What I'd need help with is

  1. is this a functional list? It looks really cool to me, but I am a really unexperienced player tbh.
  2. What to do with the remaining points

The RoW can be taken or not, don't think I have anything in the list that requires the RoW to be active, or that restricts me from taking it. So I just threw it in cause that is the one I'd like to use.

A thing I was considering maybe dropping a melta bomb and adding a 4th assault squad just to get more bodies on the floor.

I was talking to my boyfriend about it yesterday and he was thinking adding something to deal with mass amounts of infantry. Unno if that is the right way to go or not.

Change the power axe on the chaplain for a Falax Blade. +1 Attack +1 Initiative in a challenge +1S and 4+ it becomes AP2.

Makes it more likely you can take a challenge and survive rather than hoping your I1 axe does well.

Likely swap all Sgt weapons to Falax Blades

Oh can he take those? The rules said the power weapon is the symbol of his office, so it seemed like he couldn take it.

I believe he swaps his CC weapon for the Falax Blades only.

They count as two specialist weapons so that's where the +1A comes from.

Red butchers I would caution against

#

They aren't well regarded, for their output and costs and the ravening madmen -1S incoming attacks in assault phase doesn't help for Instant death

Yea, I read about them in the earlier tactica roundup. I unno tbh. if I don't take them I'd probs switch out the warmonger too

Swap out the Butchers for a rampager squad maybe? Give them jump packs?

A bit expensive tbh but WS5 with base 2 attacks, built in Caedare weapons for Falax blades means they output 5 attacks each on the charge.

I'm not the best memory but I think they get furious charge for S6 on the charge which means if you can hit an enemy with Rad missiles they hit at Instant death on the charge. Perfect for deleting a squad of terminators.

like one has the mage, the other the blades, two have axes, and forgot what the fifth one has

Because there is a fun one that increases the warlords wounds when he kills or sweeps or something to that effect to a max of +3 I think, could be funny.

nah warmonger is a consul type. basically he and a unit he is attached to teleport into combat

yea so the butchers wouldn need to foot slog, if that changes stuff

they'd teleport in, get a mishap, and all die instantly without me even having to take em out the case

You could give them lightning claws and charge anything that isn't a terminator or dreadnaught

Have rampager jetpacks with falax blades to bully any terminator or Dreadnaught

Yeah butcher Lclaws for the 3+ bully squad and the rampager jetpack for the 2+ bully squad could work.

Butchers with LClaws get re-rolls to hit and wound which is nice but only ap2 on a 6 to wound which does mean a terminator or artificer Sgt can stall them, which means a good challenge can eat the squad and any extra wounds can bounce through to him afterwards.

Butchers have 2 attacks to 4 with Lclaws and 6 on the charge which means you've got pretty good odds of taking out anything but a 15+ vet squad and combat res means you'll likely force a flee there and reduce them to a manageable size.

and on the charge with 6 attacks each means I have a decent change of scoring 6s for that AP2

Still too risky for a terminator charge but good odds that the devoured can get the rending on the sgt if you give him Lclaws which I probably wouldn't, probably a better option there.

could put them aside for a termie centric zone mortalis list, and free up a lot of points that way

maybe add Kharn and a dedicated kill unit for him

Kharn with Rampagers seems like an awesome combo, chosen warriors means you pick one to go at I5 to eat the challenge and you let Kharn get instant death on a 3+ and I think he has precision strikes.

You can't make reactions against him and you can use an advanced WE reaction to do the same in their turn. He kills basically 8 enemies by himself with gorechild

The other threats are sigi and anyone who can get a better Initiative value with enough attacks, sevatar and Typhoid mary both can be good threats to him. I5 is his biggest weakness, he is fast enough to take out and take on any generic enemy though.

His trait of no reactions allowed against his charges is great

Give him a feel no pain and so long as you don't cop an ID attack he can take down most of the other named praetors with his 3+ ID gorechild.

I talked about it with some people from my playgroup and they all were in favor of termies, it mebe not being the best but being the option I find cool, all of them taking crappy stuff for the same reason too.

So imma order 5 more red butchers to give claws, let's me switch stuff out n play around with stuff

my big two considerations were uh

#

take away a melta bomb from one squad and in return add a 4th assault squad

#

or add a vehicle, could do another vindicator for 105pts and use the rest for upgrades

#

or something else, but unsure what would fit this army/the legion

Give falax blades to all Sgt's
