HQ: 360
Cata Praetor: 135
Master of Signals: 95
Siegemaster: 130

Elites: 375
-Apothecaries (3): 135

  • Quad Mortars: 210
    Splinter
  • Quad Mortars: 210
    Splinter

Troops: 930
3x Tactical Squads (20): 310

  • Sergeant: Arti Armor, PW
  • Nuncio Vox, Chain Bayonets, Shrapnel

Heavy Support:

  • Siege Tyrant Terminators: 525
  • Medusa (2) 310
    -Leviathan Siege Dreadnought: 310
  • 2 Storm Cannon, Phosphex Launcher

Just a general starting point for what I'm looking at. Still need PDF for Medusa points but bombards could also easily work in this list

#

Running the list as Ironfire ROW as well

spark totem
#

Alright

spring ice
#

General idea is the Tacs push forward in big blobs and the artillery supports the advance and Shrapnel on the bolters plus artillery pins as much as possible

spark totem
#

Why master of signals

spring ice
#
  1. Fucks deep strike armies
  2. He gives a unit per turn a LD10 morale test
  3. He can support another squad with BS5 by being attached
spark totem
#

Getting DS on is pretty bad for artillery

#

Giving +1 to hit is cool

#

I dig it

spring ice
#

Exactly, so you can at least force them to spread

#

And your tyrants are in the back line to support as well so you can intercept with them

spark totem
#

Do u like splinter over Phosphex for the shells

spring ice
#

Phosphex is so pricy

Maybe if Medusa are cheaper with slightly less killy guns

spark totem
#

I guess splinter shells you really are just trying to hit rending to force a pin

#

How do you feel about grav bombards

spring ice
#

As long as you're wounding, the killing isn't necessary to pin

But yeah, you want as much pinning as possible to force multiple tests and increase the chance they fail one

Being pinned really shuts a unit down

#

I will probably run the Levi with Grav

#

And claw

spark totem
#

I thought you have to do an unsaved wound to force a pin test

spring ice
#

Just didn't change the loadout yet lol

spark totem
#

Grav / claw seems like it’ll fuck up some termies if they get close

#

It’s a 5” blast AP2 and wounds on 2d6> 4

spring ice
#

He's really made to be a line backer and push through if the tacs get stuck

#

So he needs to be versatile

spark totem
#

Hm, ok

spring ice
#

Would LOVE to squeeze in 2

But Levi's are pricey

spark totem
#

I was thinking that

#

The extra S into vehicles means that a lot of weapons work well

#

Missiles with sunder are stupid

#

But then you end up with a lack of stuff to go through 2+ saves

#

You also get more Phosphex on Levi’s lol

#

Poisoned3+ AP2 barrage

spring ice
#

Yeah they're exceptional

It really comes down to how much can I shave in other places

I think you really want at least 6 Mortars and 2 bigger artillery pieces otherwise you're not getting enough templates out (assuming you lose some over the game)

Tyrants are insane and must take imo

60 tacs should give you enough board presence

Have to have praetor + Siegemaster (or whatever he's called now) and MoS is cheap with lots of QoL

Apothecaries are not really needed but definitely nice

spark totem
#

Yeah

#

How important do you think rhinos are

spring ice
#

I think blobs of 20 slogging are better for this list

spark totem
#

I guess the question is

spring ice
#

In the other RoW I think 10 in a rhino works

spark totem
#

How quickly will 20 tacs get up to their target

#

You deploy on the line

#

You move 7 and run

spring ice
#

Well bolters are 18in so they definitely run T1

#

Lol

#

Shrapnel being short ranged means you need to rush to objectives and then shoot

#

By turn 2 you should get to most objectives with a standard move and artillery should be helping pin your opponent down T1

spark totem
#

So t1 11” run t2 7” move and 18” range is gonna be decent

spring ice
#

Yeah, it really should feel like you're playing defense

spark totem
#

I guess if you were in rhinos

spring ice
#

Then you have Chain Bayonets if somehow all your pinning fails lol

spark totem
#

You’d go 14” t1, 7” t2 and then disembark and walk 7”

spring ice
#

Standard board is 48 wide, usually 24 of that is deployment, so you need to only move about 18 max

spark totem
#

Right

#

These maps all have 24” deployments

spring ice
#

Rhinos are mostly for protecting stuff

spark totem
#

So 18” move 18” range is fine

spring ice
#

Perty doesn't think his warriors are worth protection lol

#

Just walk cowards

#

But mainly rhinos go boom or get stunned pretty easy

#

Harder to chew through 20 wounds with a 5++ (with apos)

spark totem
#

Did IW used to take the guard super heavies as well

#

Or just the artillery

spring ice
#

I would love to run a Demo baneblade

#

But that's another PDF thing

#

If I was going to run Olympia, I would probably run 4 squads of 10 tacs in rhinos since free heavy armor on vehicles. Then run 3 demolishers, some cataphractii in proteus carriers and a Kratos

And of course 10 tyrants

#

And some Domitar Ferrums to guard the Praetor with WS upgrade as mandatory.

spark totem
#

I think I want to run more infantry + artillery

#

Domitar is cool but it’s a worse dread I think

spring ice
#

Yeah, IW Rites are fantastic because they support totally different styles but do a good job at both

#

They're body guards only imo

#

But they're really good at it

spark totem
#

@cunning meteor you might like something like this

cunning meteor
#

Lemme give it a read

spring ice
#

@spark totem you were right about pinning needing to kill something

But that's another reason 20 dudes is good lol

#

More chances

spark totem
#

Yeah

spark totem
#

do you keep the praetor cheap af or

#

is it worth using him as a source of graviton hammer

spring ice
#

I'm thinking cheap? He's mostly going to be tagging along with the Siegemaster and Tyrants I think

spark totem
#

Sounds about right

#

Praetors seem like such good beats ticks it’s hard to resist giving them a melee retinue

spark totem
#

Are legion command squads any good?

spring ice
#

Yeah, if you have the spare points they're definitely a good investment because they get line via the banner so it's an extra scoring option too
