#Iron Warriors 3k List - First Attempt

Despoilers use Interdiction Cadre. Tacticals in the Rhinos. Veteran Breachers in the Termite with the Warsmith. Champion in the Land Raider with the Dominators. Forge Lord hangs back and repairs the armour/dread. Siege Breaker hangs out with the Rapiers.
Dreads mainly there to crack open Rhinos and provide a bit of anti-air
Thanks!
If I put the Siege Breaker in with the Despoilers can he make use of Interdiction Cadre too? Might be handy to have him upfield on an objective to use his Cognis Signum.
Oh and the Kratos has Flashburn Shells. But they're not listed in the text for some reason.
- You want a graviton crusher on the warsmith in 99 out of 100 cases.
- Veteran breachers are a melee squad, I'd aim to have them all have melee weapons and/or maximize lascutters in them.
- Deredeo is likely better off with the Boreas air defence missiles instead of the aiolos, meshes better with the Lasconnon' likely targets (vehicles and other walkers)
- With the siege breaker you want to maximize the benefit that you get from being able to take phospex, so not taking it on the rapier squad with quads is a weird omission to me.
- Honestly not sold on interdiction cadre despoilers, it's low chance they actually maxe a charge. And all models need to have the concealed positions keyword to be able to come in via the reaction. I'd honestly look at dropping them to do the amendments above and add some extra tacticals to the tac squads, or drop the 12 man squads down to 10 each and add a third tac or an inducti squad.
Forgelord while nice for repairs, seems like a bit of a waste of points if you aren't leveraging him to field thallax?
Great advice thanks!
Yeah I was thinking to go pure melee with the Breachers. Think thats wise.
They have only 2 attacks each, so I think lascuttermaxxing is quite valid
And agreed on the Rapier Phosphex, was just lacking in points
I think theres two Lascutters in there
They will for sure be able to put a lot of hate into stuff like vehicles
Yeah that was the plan with them, pop up in the termite and take out something big and heavy
Also dropping the volkite means the only shooting in the squad is the lascutters, making them overall more focused
I might drop the Despoilers, I love the look of them but yeah don't seem that great
(Vet breachers can also take 2 grav/lascutters per 5, instead of the usual 1 per 5)
Ahhhh nice
They've disappointed me in every game with blood angels
And I do get +1 S on the charge so they are better than in most other legions
Could drop the Despoilers for a normal Breacher unit to hold a backline objective, maybe put the Siege Breaker in with them. I've got nothing to help out against any deep strike or recon stuff coming in behind me
DS is heavily neutered in this edition, so I wouldn't worry too much about it
Ok dropped the Volkite on the Vet Breachers and the Despoilers and a couple of Tac marines. Allowed me to get Phosphex on the Quads, 3 Lascutters on the Vet Breachers and 10 Breachers with Grav to push up or hold back as needed.
Ohh nice, thats great
Rest looks quite okay, personally I'd rather use a couple of inductii squads > regular breachers. They would also love to be parked on frontline objectives with rhinos
Since yes they are "only" line (1), but they are also expendable (1) built in, so are perfect as a speed bump for hostiles without worrying about giving too much away
Hmmm yeah thats a great point actually
Let me see what I can move around
The Termite has the Melta built in
Oh jsut not showing then
Also peak james workshop moment, lets price two volkite chargers higher than two heavy flamers.
Another thing you can look at is to use the hammer of olympia apex detachment, that gives you:
- 2 x troops (1 prime)
- 2 x heavy assault (1 prime)
- 1 x heavy transport
So you can if you run double tac & double inducti is to run one tac & inducti in the crusade detachment, with prime on the tac squad, and the second pair in the hammer of olympia detachment
Oh that's nice even if I don't take the inductii for getting another couple primes
Could switch the dominators to normal catas, would suck to lose the WS5 and hammers though
Dominators are good
Basically they are a chosen squad with Thunder hammers that cost 15 points less
And they come with Ld 9 stock, and hatred automata as well as expendable 1, and while they lose their unit champion I don't think that is a terrible loss
Especially not with a legion champion leading them, you want him to challenge stuff
Yeah that was the plan with those, they seem great
You can even go full melta on them for some fun things, ie combi meltas on 4 and then a single with multi-melta
They will do horrible things to a walker or vehicle they disembark close to
I've done a lot of combi meltas on characters for the extra shooting power, and very often asked myself why I didn't prioritize adding more combi meltas in their retinues
