So this is the beginings of my Iron warriors.

I have a list of what I have bought, traded for, and so forth. Nothing is painted yet just collected.

If yall can give me some ideas on how to equip them with weapons and how to structure my attachments that would be awesome. Im going for a heavy siege type army. If you have ideas on what units should be melee and heavy weapons and so forth I would love to hear it.

I started with some points calculation at the bottom but after reading through what yall comment ill add more. Im not sure how many points I should be aiming for in regards to a starting army.
I believe I can get to around 1k points with this. Maybe a little under.

3 Cataphractii Praetors one with power sword.
1Centurion
1Chaplin

Alpha Legion Exodus

Troops

Total: 250

Why the 3 praetors?

Realistically, you’re only gonna being one. I’d say bring a Warsmith since he has good rules and grants access to hammer of olympia apex detachment.

I don't have one. I would need to convert a Praetor I believe.

#

Which im down to do. I can convert the Powersword Praetor to him probably.

I would also suggest trying to get some transports as well.

Probably Rhinos right?

Rhinos are great, and land raiders are also really solid. Overall a good pick for your assault focused squads (say you want to convert a dominator cohort from those cataphractiis by giving them thunder hammers, then a squad of 5 plus a charact4er in terminator armor fits inside a land raider)

#

I would recommend that you get at least 2-3 squads with Line (X) keyword (ie tacticals, iron warriors inductii tacticals, breachers stuff like that), as the base for your army. Wether that needs rhinos depends on your playstyle (rhinos can be seen as protection for scoring squads and a way to rush them onto objectives)

If this is the sword praetor you bought, he can easily be used as a Legion champion instead (Sword = paragon blade, and he has a volkite charger, which can easily be used to represent a volkite serpenta that champions come with)

Champion unlocks, the special auxiliary detachment that has one of each elite, heavy support and heavy transport slots

#

Veteran cadre

#

He is also very nasty in melee, ws 6 and 5 attacks

#

Both heavy bolters and missile launchers are decent for heavy support, heavy bolters, filling a solid anti-infantry niche for cheap and missiles are versatile, but not great at anything in particular

S8 on krak without armorbane is kinda mid unless you are shooting rhinos (pen is 5-6 vs av 12, 6 only vs 13 and can only glance av14)

#

They are great however vs mechanicum, marines (and especially veterans if you stand still for D2) and frag option is great for anti-horde and flak gives you credible aa

Ranged strength 8

D = damage

So I had this idea of getting a Deathstorm Drop Pod with Missile Launchers. Just as somthing fun to bring to an army. Do y'all recommend using them? I don't know how effective they could be.
