Hello all, I have my first game of HH coming up and this is the list I intend to bring. I obviously don't plan to win, just to learn and have fun, but wanna make sure I'm not playing completely idiotically.
I am going light-WYSIWYG, weapons shown but wargear flexible.

My plan is stick the Praetor with the Dawnbreakers, the Chaplain with the Despoilers and the Librarian with an Assault Squad, then kinda rush up the board hugging cover and see what happens. Crimson Pallys will park on the center objective and try to hold it, everyone else will flank and harry, with tacticals and maybe a predator sitting back to hold home.

Please let me know what changes you would make in wargear or planning and I hope this all goes well!

My main bit of feedback is that a single despoiler squad isnt really worth buffing with a chaplain. They don;t get enough attacks to be worth granting hatred. A 20-man blob sure, but not 10. It's also quite likely that there won't be 10 of them by the time they get to the fight, which reduces that value further.

I would try to find the points somewhere to give the chaplain a jump pack, and stick him in either the other assault squad the librarian isn't in, or with the preator with the dawnbreakers. If you can't find the points, he would be better placed with the paladins, which would be my first choice.

#

And to be 100 with you, i'd put the librarian in that raider with the paladins too. His biomancy isn't doing anything for BA assault marines. Those power axes will already wound on 2's on the charge, chainswords have shred, and they only have 1W, so negating Instant Death with T5 isn't a factor.

But he can provide those paladins with protection from ID by power fists, which they are going to need when fighting most other terminators, especially with only 5 of them. Being T5 would also allow thier built-in FnP to actually work against fists and hammers. Way better value to put him in there.

I appreciate the tips. Definitely gonna have to tool around with the list, unfortunately about 75% of it I bought prebuilt off fb marketplace so I wanted to have AN army before I had a powerful one.
I have plans for a terminator praetor to go with the pallys, probably going to be the next model I make, but I could perhaps make it into a librarian instead. And with 10 despoilers I kinda want to just go all in for 20, but then Id likely need another transport

Worth noting that independant characters in terminator units don't need to wear terminator armour.

#

The librarain and chaplain you have can be shoved straight into the unit

tame creek
#

Yeah but Id be paying for the librarian's jump pack.

Would the despoilers be worth it if they included a retinue with the chaplain?

A chaplain can't take a retinue, i'm not sure what you mean by that.

Sadly you can't put the apothecary in with the paladins, they can't join units in terminator armour

#

Paladins wouldnt need him anyway, they have a FnP built in if they're outnumbered, which they will be

tame creek
#

New to the game, forgot chaplains can't take retinues.

I suppose cutting the despoilers would make the most sense, but I dont wanna shelve some fun models, how would you make them useful?

Totally take them, i'd just advise not supporting them. Let them be 10 cheap dudes running around being annoying and holding objectives.

#

Or helping to multi-charge stuff alongside more dangerous units

Also Im sure the chaplain will have another more fun when plastic breachers drop, if only because he's in mk3

I would probably put the apoc with the tacs to stack with heart of the legion when they're on an objective, yea

tame creek
#

Awesome. So apoc with tacticals, chaplain with pallys, librarian will stay with the stabby assault squad for now (or I suppose could go with dawnbreakers and praetor could go with both assault squads combined)

If you want the liby with the assault squad, i'd probably change his discipline to telepathy, then atleast he can stop people overwatching them to death. Biomancy is doing so little for them you probably wont notice it.
