Looking for feedback.

Speaker with Deathsworn in a land raider.

Varagyr with Herald in a land raider to get line.

Tartaros warlord with retinue running upfield with line to bully power armour units.

Despoiler with apocs to move up and hold.

Javelins to flank and deal with armour, scorpius to deal with HSS.

Seekers and leviathan to be played aggressively and screen for the advance.

Feeling good about the list, but a bit anxious going without any Contemptors and potentially lacking anti tank.

Why do you want line for your varagyr?

#

Or just worried you don’t have enough line.

#

Also don’t think I saw it. But what warlord trait ?

lean fox
#

Wanted more line, and using a herald to do it with some Varagyr seemed like a intersting move when I know they'll be up the board in the oppoenents depolyment zone

If you didn’t pick yet you went howl of morkai.

lean fox

Haha, thanks, it will be loyalist. I can model up a caster, but I'm not sure best use for it. What do you find?

tall lava
#

Biomancy to buff our units for the big charges.

#

Kinda boring but it works well.

#

Personally I’m not super impressed by javelins but if they’re for fluff I totally get taking them.

lean fox
#

Its my first time running them actually, I like the models and fluff as outflanking hunting units. Opinion has been they are undercosted. You founf them lacking?

tall lava
#

I think they're easy to kill before they'd be a problem for good players.

#

Mind you a lot of a local meta is really dependent on like... how good is your players right?

#

Like my local meta is quite frankly not very good at the game. So, stuff that shouldn't do well does well.

#

Okay, so if they outflank and your opponent has Augury scanners they'll light them up and they should die then and there. They're 4 wounds at T6, but they'll likely have to tank Lascannons or Plasma most commonly.

#

Jink doesn't exist in HH 2.0 so they just have their 3+ unless they're getting boosted in some way I can't think of.

#

Now this could just be your opponents not realizing that Augury scanner is busted.

#

Or helical targeting array for dreads obviously.

#

But it's basically auto take.

#

It's 10 points for free intercept.

I've gotten decent mileage out of javelins. Keep em cheap, get the lascannons but not much if anything else.

I've never deep strikes/outflanked with them.

T6 means you can't really reliably hit them with bolters. So that means at least a turn of shooting from a HSS or vehicle. If you kept the javelin cheap, it's good to draw out reactions. Since most stuff is either too weak or way over kill (local meta dependent).

Unless you get hit by something massive they're not getting doubled out either.

I use 2 with my WE army. Had a lot of success countering vollite culverin squads with them. A full squad of 10 culverins will do 5-7 wounds to a javelin... But you can play with range since a lascannon has 3 inches of advantage.

Also don't sleep on T6 in melee, wouldn't do it into any melee unit, but it can do a late game deny against some tacticals if necessary

Yep, pretty much.

lean fox
#

I'm a bit iffy about my command squad, I always try and run one as I think they are great value for a ws5 scoring unit, but as a final addition, I'm worried they won't achieve anything.

tall lava
#

I mean you also run a chance at scoring being less relevant too. I like cheaper scoring bodies personally, but it's definitely a move.

I think command squads are good but you have to be clear what you want to do with them and I'm not sure what niche they fill for you. I don't know if I'd use them in your list since there's a lot of overlap (not neccessarily bad though) with other units.

If you park them on an objective, your opponent could just ignore them/ shoot them from outside their threat ring. If you're throwing them at something to clear an objective, your varagyr or deathsworn should be doing. If you're using them to hold objectives your despoilers (or gray slayers) could do that with more bodies/cheaper.

If you cut them you could upgrade your despoilers to gray slayers (and I think have enough points for 3-4 power fists per squad)

# lean fox Thanks for the feedback, yeah I'm not sure either. I just was concerned I didn't...

I agree they can be points sinks for sure. Any frost weapons are pretty much wasted on them. I err towards powerfist b/c rule of cool but also it gives them the ability to threaten just about everything on the battlefield. But they'd be wasted sitting on a rear obj, and you're gonna lose out against any WS4 folks. Also you can drop the combat shields for a bolter, which means combined with their being relentless they can rapid fire and also charge in the same turn. I dunno if that makes them worth being almost 1.5x as expensive as a tac but I think the versatility it gives makes it close.

To me they fit in a full court press army where you're presenting multiple targets. Either the enemy kills your slayers and your varagyr/deathsworn go in hard, or vice versa and your slayers smash the enemy tacticals/light vehicles.

Honorable mention to stalkers who are pretty similar to 40k tac marines with special weapons. Getting rotor cannons may not guarentee a pin every turn but its still tasty

Why take the GFB and FC on the Thegn you lose the benefit of the extra attacks why not take a thunder hammer

I would rate slayers with power lances. Access to discounted power weapons does mitigate there starting cost a bit but I agree slayers/stalkers are not efficient
