#Imperial Fists 1.5k - How to expand upon list/minute changes

Hey everyone!

First list, first game of horus heresy, bit nervous about getting started. I'm still deciding between different ways I want to expand on my fists between terminators, shields units or templar so this game is to help me figure it out a little. I can make minute changes to the list but other than that I don't have much in the way of choice I'm afraid. Not looking to turn this into something super tactical, just fun/small things etc or how to expand upon this for bigger games, thanks loads! You guys are great. Only choosing hammerfall as I have no transport for the templar (apart from a spartan which I didn't think could take in this much points lol)

OK for later I would take an other RoW. Massed deepstrike like with HFSF has often the problem that it eighter wins or looses you the game as soon as it arrives and in my experience it doesnt make for a great game experience. But your mileage may vary.

Big tactical blobs are great!

Templar breathren could use shields (and later a landraider if you dont use HFSF)

Later you will also want to use more scoring units. Maybe a command squad for your preator.

Ahh OK that makes sense. My opponent knows I'm running it but I'll ask more about it at the table.

I saw combat shields, is the 6+ invuln really that worth it? I'll definitely look at this in future, don't have any shields modelled yet unfortunately 😦

What do you recommend as more scoring units, more tacticals or something more long ranged?

Its just the expirience I had so far with HFSF.

The 6++ is not great but Templars are such an expensive unit that a single Safe during the game almost pays for all 10 of them.

Well you will want more sxoring in a 3k Game. I'd say ar least 4 units. But the way you get those 4 units is up to you. You can take more tacticals. Heavy support Squads can be line too if you want to use a castellan. But you could also use a RoW like Templar assault to get some elites to be troops and line.

It realy depends on whar you want the theme of your army to be.

And yes In general you will need some rsnged antitank. But that too can be achived in a lot of differwnr ways

Yeah that's my big struggle, I don't know how I wanted to expand into a larger list if I wanted to go templar or shield based or even more termies etc so was struggling with the 'theme' I know I like big tactical blobs for them 2+ bolters though!

I initially wanted to do a stone gauntlet/shield themed list but after finding out how people don't like it I've been put off it (and now warders) quite a bit. Feel like I'm between doing a more 'marine' heavy list using that 2+, doing a terminator themed list with huscarls/deep strike, or templar. It's a struggle!

Fair enough. But if I read it right you are going to have your first game soon. I feel like you will see what you like more while playing the game.

The key is self moderation, dont expand on whats strong, expand on what is fun.
