So this is my first time writing a mechanicum list, primarily I want to put cool stuff on the table and give my friend a fun first game of heresy. BUT I want to make sure I'm not actively handicapping myself or taking the "wrong" options.

195Pts: Arch magos Prime, cybernetica high order, cybernetica artificia, MC paragon, volkite serpenta, irad cleanser, haven't decided on a warlord trait.

105Pts: Magos Dominus, photon thruster, power lance, machina

105Pts: 30x tech thrall covenant, las-locks

105Pts: 30x tech thrall covenant, las-locks

494Pts: 4X dark fire, maxima bolter, shiege wrecker and shock charger, searchlights

260Pts: 3X myrmidons with maxima bolters, x1 with rad cleansers

80Pts: tech priest auxilia, x1 priest cyber familiar, x2 servo automata, x2 servo automata with maxima bolter, lachrimallis

290Pts: thanatat calix, paragon of metal

365Pts: Macrocarid, irad cleansers, irradiation engines, searchlights

maxima bolters are pretty terrible, i’d pick anlther option for the myrms

assuming you’re not looking for some fine tuned list, seems fine and fun for your buddy. a lot of fun things to chew through with a wide spread of unit types and structures to fight

I’d recommend making some volkite chargers for the Myrms if you don’t want to go full Plasma cheese

The ones from the space marine pintle weapons sprue actually work really well

you could commit to the bit and go full irad cleanser flamer nonsense which would be pretty metal even if it’s not crazy potent

Thanatar with paragon is broken, precision strikes (4+) on the heavy lascanonn is too overpowered for basically any matchup, they're really good just by themselves anyway. I suppose it would be alright if you just did the sporting thing and never shot out characters with it.

I've run it, it goes something like this:
T1(mech): Thanatar blows up the enemy Spartan at a huge range, the enemy praetor and his fancy terminator retinue stumble out.
T2 you shoot the praetor out of his unit, maybe it takes two turns if he gets lucky with invulns.

As a myrmidax paragon of destruction it can feel fancy

Probably gonna swap for volkite though on the myrms

They can be pretty beefy in large numbers with the 4+FNP but leadership is the issue. Expect them to spend most of the game pinned. Could put a dominus for more LD in them but I've never tried that.
