Hi Guys, not sure on the list yet. Should I go buy two leviathans?
I really like the termis so 20 terminators should be pretty much set and shocked in with Master of Lies.
What do you guys think?

2440 points

Exodus
Praetor Cataphractii (Chainfist, Combi-B), Warlord, Master of Lies

5x Cataphractii Terminators (2 Chainfists)
5x Tartaros Terminators (All Claws)
5x Tartaros Terminators (2 Chainfists, 3 Claws)

10x Tactical Squad
10x Tactical Squad

5x Headhunter Kill Team

5x Tyrant Siege Squad
1x Leviathan Dreadnought (Volkite Calv., 2x Storm Cannon, Phosphex Discharger)
1x Leviathan Dreadnought (Volkite Calv., 2x Grav-Flux Bomb., Phosphex Discharger)

Firstly - yes, buy two Leviathans. But also warn your opponent, it's a little rude otherwise.

Secondly, they're probably going to do more work for you if you go gun+fist, as they'll be a lot harder to tarpit in combat.

Third, stay away from the grav-flux bombard, it's awful. Stormcannon or melta lance all the way. Given the rest of the list I'd say meltas

+1 on the weapons. Grav bombard is weak, complicated to fire and has a shitty range. It's a sad gun

thx

I would consider some transports, maybe even dropping some infantry to run them. The Leviathans will give you some much needed punch, but you may struggle to reach the enemy just on foot.

yeah i actually thought i could deepstrike the terminators with master of lies

#

turns out i gotta replan

Happy to put together a list for you real quick. What do you have in your collection, what's the point limit?

Allright, thanks man!

So...

  • My group is against the new reactions
  • Alpha Legion because I wanted to paint them in that style
  • I love Terminators and Dreads
  • I absolutely hate a couple of models: Dreadclaw Pods, Terrax Drills
  • I really dislike Tactical Armour and would rather get rid of it
  • I can print/buy anything but as of right now everything is bought
  • I really hate resin so I am in the process of printing the shoulder pads,
nemesis bolters and a couple of snipers
  • However I'd like to stick to plastic as far as possible

The current list:

Alpha Legion, Traitor, Reward Siege Tyrants

HQ:
01x Exodus
---> (no reason apart from I kinda like him)
01x Cataphractii Praetor, WL: Hydran Excursor, Chainfist and Combi-B.
---> (well... got the model. Will exchange soon for better weapons)

Elites:
05x Tartaros 2 Chainfist, rest claws
05x Tartaros 2 Chainfist, rest claws
Transport LRSpartan with Lascannons, Array, no Pintle Weapon
---> (the Terminators are currently build this way. Taking my Tartaros and no Pintle Weapon
strictly for points)

Troops:
10x Tactical
10x Tactical
---> (I despise tacticals but you need them this edition -.-)
10x Reconnaissance, Nemesis Bolters
---> (Not really happy with but oh well...)

Heavy Support:
05x Tyrant Siege Terminators
---> (good unit and as said, without Terminators I wouldn't bother playing)
01x Leviathan, Volkite Calivers, Siege Drill, Phosphex, Storm Cannon
01x Leviathan, Volkite Calivers, Siege Claw, Phosphex, Melta Lance
---> (sexiest Dread there is. I could only buy 1 melee and 1 ranged Dread today
so this should explain the weapons. Am waiting for the glue on the magnets to dry.
Will slog on the battlefield and I guess mixed weapons is ok)

Actual Questions:

  • What Rite of War should I use?
  • I'll try the list this way next week, anything I should keep in mind?
  • What to buy next? I feel like Thunder Hammers on the Terminators are a given but appart from that?

Ah forgot: 2500 points is what we usually play

So with this list you run Pride of the Legion. It makes all your terminators compulsory troops and grants line. Fulmentaros are switched for the Siege Tyrants as they 1) become line, 2) are better, 3) you only have a single heavy slots which is occupied by your two leviathans

Exodus can run with the recon guys, gives him some ablative wounds and ability to snag a transport. With your Warlord trait, they can basically be placed anywhere you need them after your opponent deploys.

Hope that helps

#

My main concerns with your current list is lack of mobility and there are some units that won't be very points efficient. I tried to take these into account and your preference for zero tacticals when I made this one for you.

This... looks sooo much better! Big thanks @native remnant and ofc I got a couple of Rhinos lying around 😄

You're welcome! I think it will be pretty fun to play. Would love to hear how it goes and any tweaks you might need

Will do!

#

Ah sry to bother but about the fulminators: I still got 10 Cataphractii in sprues lying around and quickly getting a couple of special weapons like Power Sords, Lances, etc. isn't an issue. You sure you'd equip them this way?

Honestly I would trade the Catas for your Tartaros. Let me fiddle with the list for a sec to give you a more optimized version.

So... Thanks for the list! We played last sunday and it was really fun. Also the game went really really horrible 🙂

#

To give a little insight: In HH 1 I used to play Death Guard with Crysos Morturg, 2x5 Deathshrouds and 2x5 wardens. Being able to start with 3 of those units (and Morturg) right at the enemy and distributing Deathcloud templates like candy made the list work. Also the wound distribution rule of those made them really tough. But that's gone. They switched the warlord trait, I dislike the miniatures because of the colour scheme kinda anyway so here we are.

#

Now. We played 2000p. Unfortunately the plan was to play 2vs1 with 4k on each side but one guy couldn't come, he was called to an emergency.
