Semi-competitive, Line heavy and relatively mobile Pride of the Legion force led by Eidolon. There are 7 Line units, everything but the 2 Contemptors and 3 tanks. Veteran tank busters lead the deep strike in their drop pod, with Eidolon & Co and the Assault squad, while the tanks and Dreadnoughts form the anvil.

Generally a pretty solid list

#

Not a lot of infantry or interceptor, but it could be good at bullying your opponent off objectives

#

You’re also going to struggle with anti-tank as all pride lists do

Fitting in some sunkillers could help

alpine siren
#

Maybe a squad of 10 would do the trick

#

the lance on the apothercarie just seems a bit wasteful in points

alpine siren
#

Agreed

weary thorn
#

ive heard 8 is the sweet spot for sunkillers

Phoenix spear on termie sgt isnt really worth it just better to get another thunder hammer just cause the phoenix weapons arnt super reliable for 2+ saves

I'd put shriekers on the apothecary instead of the sonic lance, but otherwise list looks decent

#

id be wanting to give the vets a melee option for the shrieker

My thoughts for the lance on apothecary was just to add some pinning to the deep striking forces, without Kakophani it’s my only source of pinning (aside from the deep strike itself) . No bueno ?

crimson hamlet
#

The deep strike forces a pinning check when it lands anyway

#

And because your squad's can't split fire, you are left with a S2 template in a squad that really wants to shoot at vehicles

#

Its not a terrible idea if you have 20 points you need to spend but don't expect wonders from it

lament kayak
#

Ahhhh right, no split fire!

#

Sun killers would be at least 250-370pts for a 5-8 man squad…. What the heck do I drop to add that ?

crimson hamlet
#

If you HAD to fit them in, probably a tactical squad in rhino and the veterans in the pod, but that kind of detracts from your whole hammer and anvil idea

#

Its up to you if you think 8 lascannons that hit on 2s and ignore all shrouded and cover saves is worth it over the cool factor of the extra tactical squad and drop podding vets

I plan to build sunkillers in mk3 or 4 so I’ll have them on standby for an alternate list.

Another option is downsizing the Cataphractii unit to 5 in a Proteus and using the spare points to field 8-10 Sunkillers.

crimson hamlet
#

But you're doing it that way because those are the models you having in the age of darkness box right?

lament kayak
#

Yeah, that’s the idea, but I also have a proteus in my collection. So once I’m done painting the core of the army and on to a box of MKIV I’ll try the variant list with sunkillers

#

Keen to try out the list posted with some tweaks to surgical augments and load outs as suggested though, but I can’t deny how awesome sunkillers seem to be at cracking armour

Miscounted— I suggest switching some out for ranged threats

#

Maybe some veterans for some kakophoni?

#

Also sunkillers. Gotta have some of those.

#

Pride of the Legion allows one or the other, choose your heavy support wisely

Gotcha. In that case go for sunkillers since this list lacks anti vehicle.
