<@&877302776814796841> Mostly, this is playing around with what you can do without a praetor at 2k, and wanting to try out Destroyers, so I sort of built around the 10-man destroyer squad and the Moritat.

Ideally, the Templars and Leviathan push up the field under the aegis of the lascannons, and both the destroyers and the terminators hit the enemy backline when they drop, distributing their specific breeds of hell. If they stall out, the Templars are enough of a problem to hold ground, and apothecary + tactical squad + IF Bonus can handle any infantry that the Lascannons dump out of transports.

Dude it has style, destroyers and a pyromancer just seems cool as feck

cool list. destroyers + rad missiles are definitely fun, I run them myself and plan to build another 5 to make a full squad. however you're looking at 750pt twiddling their thumbs in orbit before they land via deep strike and it sucks when your reserves don't come on.

What would you drop to add more ground force?

maybe 5 templars and beef your tac squads with some extra guys or the dreaded recon nemesis squad if you can fit the points

but yeah. my most recent game I had about 600 points of destroyers + moritat + assault + teminators hang out in space while the ground pounders got rolled

The templars are sturdy in their Artificer Armour and aren't teleporting. What good would lowering the squad do? Just free up points for lower-quality bodies?

🤷 I just like having bigger tac squads as insurance. haven't used templars so don't know how good they are

Think of them as slightly downgraded melee termies and you're in the right mindset.
