  • I have the FW SoH dread so i'm pretty keen on using that somehow and running a trio sounds fun.

    • The outriders are really just to fill slots, im coinciding getting some plastic landspeeders and sticking some fancy guns on them instead, mostly as i dont like the proteus, it looks like they just never finished building the front half
      • Running a tank/spartan would be cool but having a lone low cost tank seems like it’s just going to get killed super quick, and the rest a a bunch of points

The basic idea is i'm trying to make a semi-fluffy list based around the signature spear tip strikes of the SoH, but tbh apart from slapping my opponent with chainswords/axes and/or dreadnought fists when Abby and his boys smash into whatever the warlord is and hope they don't just get krumped. Apart from that I don't have much of an idea or plan until Ascendant Horus is out. Apart from a playing Necrons in 9th and a wee bit of AoS i dont have much experience 🙂

First off, welcome to the Heresy @latent plinth ! Generally speaking your list looks fairly okay. Despoilers and Tacs to score, big deathstar for Abby to smack things with, Lascannon HSS, and some contemptors. I do, however, have a few pointers:

  1. While the idea of a fluffy "speartip strike" idea is indeed cool, your list is critically low on anti-tank options. Your dreads can do it in melee (sometimes) and their plasma can hurt lighter vehicles; Abby's goons can do it with power fists if they get into melee with tanks. But your only way of reliably cracking AV14 is the Lascannons, which are a stationary unit and thus can only lock down a small area. Consider finding some points for melta on the jetbikes, swapping the plasma on the contemptors for Lascannons or Melta.

  2. You have a lot of anti-infantry in your list (depoilers, reavers, tacs, dreadnought plasma), and that's good. However, unless you're against similarly infantry-heavy lists you will struggle to punch up into harder targets like terminators. Consider swapping some pts around to give some power axes/fists to the Reavers.

  3. Abby's goonsquad. Dear lord, 10 Justaerin will obliterate whatever they touch in melee, up to and including some primarchs. However, that is an expensive proposition and puts a lot of eggs in one basket. It's fun as hell, don't get me wrong, but it can't run because of the heavy type and thus if they're out of position after that first DS charge, they'll likely never reach melee again.

  4. Your HQs. Abby is a good warlord, no doubt. MoS is needed for the Reaving anyway, and honestly he provides plenty of value. Attaching him to the HSS will give them his Augury and Signum both valuable tools. However, he doesn't need a sniper if he's going to be using his signum to boost BS. And what is the Primus Medic doing?
