#EC 3k PotL - To Palatine or not to Palatine?

Hi all, I'm struggling between two lists, the broad strokes of which is whether I take Palatine Aquilae, or a Pred, Javelin, and Assault Squad instead.

Vague plan is that an "AP3" squad (phoenix terminators, and assault squad or Palatines) with character is accompanied by an "AP2" squad (Cataphractii and veterans) to punch, tank, and and counterpunch whatever needs punching. Everything else in the list runs interference to prevent or disrupt a coherent response. The one with the Palatines does the "AP3" bit better, at the expense of interference, while the other has much better interference at the expense of "AP3".

I'm heading to an event soon, and I'm really just looking for a list that doesn't instantly lose me the game!

I probably wouldn't do a 10 man unit of Phoenix Guard, that is a lot of points int a unit that isnt all that great at killing things with +2 saves. At most i would run them at 5

As far as Paletines, i like them with the base weapon, & give them the two handed one for the extra str

I'd probably do that version of the list over the one with vets in a rhino

Cause those vets cost alot, & have to spend a turn waiting to get out of their ride inorder to actually charge something
