GUIDE TO GAS FEES @everyone
s/o to @wild coral
(Disclaimer: This guide is written to explain things in the simplest way possible and as such may miss some of the intricacies of gas.)
Gas fees are the transaction costs incurred when putting a transaction onto the blockchain.
You can pay more for your transaction to be processed quicker
or
You can pay less for your transaction to be processed slower.
It's effectively like a 'bid' that you send to the miners to prioritise your transaction over others "on the blockchain".
Whilst you can choose to manually adjust the Gas Price (measured in GWEI). NEVER CHANGE THE GAS LIMIT.

Make sure that your MetaMask wallet is connected by clicking "Connect Wallet" in the top right. Then enter your password, click “Unlock" and follow the prompts to connect your wallet.
Paying and Adjusting Gas:
Note: You may have to pay more than the gas fees stated on gasnow.org, as the gas used for buying a token is usually more than a standard transfer.
- When purchasing a token, click 'Buy Now' and 'Proceed to Payment'. Your MetaMask wallet will pop up asking you to confirm the transaction.
At this point, you have two options:
- Accept the transaction as is and click 'Confirm'
or
- Adjust the Gas Price (in GWEI) to prioritize your transaction over other transactions on the network.)
It will clearly display the Gas Fees you'll pay (in ETH), under 'Gas Fee'/'Transaction Fee'/'Network Fee' (which is usually shown at the bottom of the MetaMask window).
