You have to connect online to do the tera raids, since they're events. And chances are people are going to queue online with friends or randoms. They probably also have a way to count the number of attempts per file that connects online, is my poorly educated guess

no, they're gonna tell us the Friday after it ends.
it's also easy to trigger a new raid without time travelling.
Set your console to manual time, and after every raid, you open your pause menu on Sc/Vi, then go back out to Switch settings (don't close the game), go to System to "change" your date and time, open the date and time, and just scroll through it. No need to jump forward or backward in time. Hit "OK", go back to the game, and unpause. It should pop up that there are new outbreaks.
That's how I've done it.
If you can coordinate with friends, it's easy to one shot if you set up, too.
Most people will just spam Ivy Cudgel on Hearthflame Mask Ogerpon but you can set up with 2 Screeches on something like Koraidon, and meanwhile, another person does Attack Cheer on turn 1. Ogerpon(s) will Swords Dance, and on turn 3, with no Tera Shield up, you can OHKO it.
Problem is you need 3-4 people to do this with and randos just spam attacks. Nobody ever sets up
Also don't let randos queue in with Skeledirge, Wo-Chien is a Dark type with Dark moves 😭💀
Ghost types are 2x weak to Dark. Torch Song will not help lmao

yeah the Tera type being grass makes it easy for Fire or Ice, but it still has Dark type moves, which is bad for Ghost types. I've had too many randos queue in with Ghosts, one even had Ghost Tera Annihilape....
for the most part, if your Pokémon is level 100 and has appropriate IVs/EVs for Wo-Chien, nobody should die, and the raid will be easy enough esp bc it's 5 stars.
It's just randos who don't think about this stuff that die but even one or two deaths will still be fine.

if it helps, most of the raids are just people spamming attacks because Chien-Pao doesn't let you set up, and a lot of people are bringing Skeledirge (weak to Dark / Crunch), Koraidon (weak to Ice / Icicle Crash, Ice Shard) or Charizard (also weak to Ice, and typically not strong enough to live through Chien-Pao raids), or Annihilape (also weak to Crunch).
Like people think because it's Ice Tera that Dark moves won't hit as hard, but they do.
And same with Dragons/Flying types - your half Dragon or half Flying is still weak to Ice moves...

and it makes sense, they've definitely done the thing where they want people to play like... 1-3 matches of ranked, then after the ranked cycle ends, they distribute rewards. They did that for Scarlet/Violet. You didn't even have to win the matches, you just had to play them.
It would help if they actually clarified their own announcements but they never do, and then big Pokémon accounts make up their own theories, pass it off as legitimate claims without verified sources, and the rumor mill explodes. Serebii has openly mentioned this being an issue a lot on BlueSky.
Hopefully this is what Game Freak meant bc otherwise I do agree it sucks if they're forcing everyone to play ranked, which is unbearable given how awful experienced players are in lower ranks and how impossible it feels to casual players to enjoy ranked when everyone has competitive builds and their builds are just the better Pokémon they could get in the game

You could also try looking up the trainer name on Reddit and see if any r/ pokemon related subs have called out the user for being a known hacker
Chances are you might not find them being called out, but I did that for a Wonder Traded shiny Iron Bundle, no website nickname, and it had several of the marks including high friendship, and yeah, it was hacked.
