This might be the cynic in me, but sounds like a Pay to Win scheme concocted by the ministry of engagement and dependancy .. to me 🤔 What is a Discord Server Tag ?

It's just an optional badge that server users can enable on an opt-in basis. If displayed, it technically does allow another user to know exactly one of your server enrollments, i.e., the server that you chose.
