I think there is a bit of an issue with how it behaves still, I often get the wrong wire color and have to redraw them. I think any wire that connects to a single bit pin should be a yellow 1-bit wire and anything else a multi-bit cable regardless of the values that pass through. Or would that cause problems with 2-way busses ? Never really used those.

well, most of the "wrong" wires in comp factory are bugs with comp factory having wrong values on pins

without that, changing colors shouldn't be that confusing, unless you are connecting components of different bitness
