Rather than the jump or the sprint of the other hover tanks, I think the siege tank could get an anti infantry ability.

Basically, on pressing shift. The siege tank would overcharge its hover engines for five seconds, and then deal a large amount of damage to units underneath the tank.

Not a fan of creating one-man army units... I like that it's kind of 'helpless' on its own, but very strong in a well planned push. your siege tank is ideally accompanied by a flak tank, hover or rail tank, and a couple of quads...

Yeah we've discussed this with Dram and the siege tank wouldn't ever get a secondary attack, though a support ability such as a temporary smokescreen may be alright.

If it has a way to deal with melee units then it would be almost unkillable for aliens.

This is not good.

It's meant to be weak to crabs, it's supposed to be escorted such an ability would break that design philosophy

I don't like this at all. Siege tank is supposed to be weak to hordes of smaller enemies. Not supposed to deal with then.

It's a building/defense buster. Not a horde fighter. It should have allied infantry protecting it, without the means to fight infantry itself (apart from the main canon)
