Suggestion to add a effect to each that makes them strategically interesting besides beeing merely resources.

balterium patches will refract light in such a way that when small units remain stationary in or near them it cloaks them.
kinda like the how tall grass in moba games does.

the biotic patches will accelerate healing and when the substance is aplyd to torn/shot up armor it drys to becomes like a field repair for vehicles and aliens alike.

these patches will become rarer as the games goes on they get mined out but i think giving them some use besides just money will add a lot of interesting option for units in the field.

Interesting idea but the crystals already actually do conceal your units. True not cloak but yeah. Cloaking should be a technology to upgrade.

away from starting positions it would make the resource patches worth something way before harvesters or shrimps get to em.
at the same time u slowly remove them as you take resources from the starting erea outward making the nomansland seem less emty.

its mechanics borrowed from moba type games but for fps play with later expanded options in the pipeline for infantry i think its good to give the not yet tapped resources some use to the ground units passing by them 🙂

ye the worms already add some life to the dessert i tend to play alot of infantry and the cover alone is cool but theres alot of no win situations you eventualy end up in. out classed ofcourse but once the loadouts and such become a thing player controlled infantry could be pretty strong later.

how to mirror that on the alien end tho? ..maybe swaping into a unit triggers specific mutations to have a personalised augmentation to anything you controll
