This bug would have the ability to create an EMP explosion. Either shutting down the enemy troop at long range and killing them at short. It would use it's mandibles to send a shock wave in an 180 degree field of view.

Not all vehicles would be disabled by an EMP. The ones we have nowadays? Yeah that would stop a sparkplug, but I imagine in a world where teleportation is a practical method of colonizing stars, microwaves (which effect electronics in similar ways to an EMP) would be taken into account

Personally, I think disabling vehicle manuverability is decidedly more dangerous. Perhaps the aliens shoot a bile or something that coats the ground in a tar-like substance? Something they used for hive construction and hunting.
