#Change operators ala bitwig

What if operators could 'upgrade' similar to the way devices in bitwig can be 'upgraded' in the context menu (like going from a 2-band eq to a 5-band). Rather than dragging in a related op, reconnecting nodes and trying to match similar parameters, it could try and match the parameters and routing.

A simple example might be to go from gridpoints to radialpoints but keeping the translation and scale (maybe even the number of points). Or perhaps moving from the different feedback ops while keeping similar displacement and blur.

I like how there is sometimes a list of similar operators underneath the parameters. Really handy to get to know what's out there 🙂

Very interesting idea! I am not sure if upgrading an op is a frequent use case but I can imagine that we could a an option “copy parameters” which then can pasted on other ops. If the ops type don’t match (Transform vs TransformPoints) we could use the parameter names to infer possible assignments

I suppose once you know your way around the ops and when to use them, it wouldn't be something that comes up very often! Maybe that's just my 'make everything a feature' brain getting ahead of my 'read the docs' brain

the main use case i can think of is "whoops this Vec2 should be a Vec3"
