That's exactly what --run is intended to do.

So is it not possible to have it run if restarted and still stick to the 03:00 schedule?

Those two things are mutually exclusive. You can't have it run immediately whenever the container is started and *also" stay running after it's done to wait for the next schedule.

The typical solution would be two containers; one to run immediately and exit that you can start whenever you want and one that sits and waits for the scheduled time.
