I am aware of mass_genre_update, but from what I can see, it is limited to a set number of sources.
Basically, what I am trying to do is have anime genres on Plex and have them match my collection names (so if a show is in a genre collection it also has it added as a genre --> Shounen collection would have Shounen as genre)
Basically, am I able to apply different genres based off of some other criteria in a mass-edit type of way?
You can apply genres to things using the metadata files:

Is there a way to do this based off a criteria?
Not that I know of.
One could certainly write a script that would take the output from the metadata backup operation and massage it however you needed to, then you'd reapply it..
yeah i thought about doing that. trying to find a quick solution lol. Thanks for the info though, ill add this to feature requests
