for example if the AI is trained to know what high quality eyes look like and then trained to also recognize eyes in images, once it becomes good at that it can upscale the low quality image of eyes you give it

the text generation one honeslty creeps me out, its so goddamn good at making convincing conversations

theres a new occurring problem on 4chan where people generate greentexts with that AI and then repost them as original greentext, and the mods are having such a hard time understanding if its a real person that made it or if its AI generated

Mostly experience. I have upscaled hundreds and hundreds of pictures and tried different models, learned what they do and what their pros and cons are.

With PNGs i always use the GainRes model to add antialiasing.

Well done! Make sure you have PNG as screenshot when you use gain res. Otherwise it will only enhance the jpeg artefacts and mess the pictures up.

Yeah do that. You will learn that there are just very few universal models that work well on any picture. many models are also redundand and can be replaced with others.

Ionly use these ones. The minus realesrgan I found yesterday when I looked for 2022 models to see whats new. have to try that one out more.

What's the file size? Windows will only use under 25mb files for a wallpaper (I think), bigger and it either applies a black wallpaper, or things get weird.

Yeah when you see the aliasing even at 8K pictures and you can remove that even in low res pictures, its very satisfying. ^^

THey way I do it is: When it is a PNG, I use first the GainResmodel for antialiasing and smoothing the edges. I then upscale it to 4K. Because then the precision of the edges gets upscaled as well and teh end picture is super smooth and has no edges at all, if you understand it.

With a JPEG, GainRes will just magnify issues from the artefacts from JPEg and mess the picture up.

GainRes not only adds antialiasing. Probably better to say it checks teh whole picture for edges in the texture of the pixels and smoothes them. That means it enhances the texture of a picture as well. Gives it more detail.

Whenyou have jpeg artefacts of course, it will just enhance them as well. Another reason JPEG is just trash.

By that you make better pictures in quality than a native 8K picture as some poste it in screenshots like irmgard. 🙂 My4K picture then has less aliasing than his 8K picture. ^^
