Nice!
I’m not really sure how I will crew an Orion but I plan to get one in November and figure the rest out before it launches.
The in-game jumpsuits are okay, but i hope we can get some more industrial looking outfits fit for a mining crew
I usually rock the bright yellow Aril armor when I am mining. Seems to fit the job at hand. Some variety would be nice though you are correct.
The only whitebox draft images we have show a lot of slanted geometry
It adds a lot of character, but I wonder if they'll stick to it
A few more, including the Bridge view
Absolute favorite part of the ship though, is this catwalk...
Having the saddle bags rotating around as you move from one end to the other, and the views...
Ima wondering how big the Orion type Asteroids will be.
There are some monster's out in the verse.
It should be able to produce a large amount of refined ores.
how do you even get one?
Should be able to buy one at the IAE ship sale in November afaik
any idea how much it will cost? and if its a specific day in november?
or is it like the whole november month
Gonna use it for my base building team
i wonder when the sale begins this year
Big brain fleet right there. Awesome
My fleet is based on stuff we wanna do
You mean you don't mindlessly throw money at the wall?
$575 currently.
Dont know exact dates.
Usually get 2 days for each Manufacturer and then 2 days at the end of the week where all available.
do you know if Concept ships like that will be able to be used ingame? Or will you just get a loaner ship like all the others?
One day they will be flyable. Things move pretty slow for Star Citizen, concept ships to flyable seems even slower 🤣
I think the loaner is a Mole, for the Orion.
ah, so technically its no point buying concept ships?
Wow, loaners are a
Prospector
Mole
Hammerhead
Vanguard
Isn't the Idris-M playable ingame? If you buy the pack which costs like 15k?
Usually on release, a Concept ship will be at its cheapest and might have LTI as well.
Unfortunately it can take years before they become flyable ingame.
Especially the Big ships.
Looking at the loaners for the Orion, its a diverse range of ships, a player would get a bit of use out of them.
Afaik, no idris ingame for players who own one.
Maybe if Squadron 42 gets released, one day, we see the Capital ships, like the Idris, ingame/flyable.
hm, okay, i thought like, those people who bought the praetorian pack and got all the unreleased ships would be able to fly them, a little sad they pay so much and wont be able to use the unreleased ships
They will eventually, once the ships are flyable and i game.
Yeah, must be frustrating though, paid a lot of money and only got a picture
thanks for telling me thoo, i was thinking of buying cuz i thought i would be able to use the concept ships, noow i know i will not lol
What some do is buy a upgrade from a Mole to a Orion.
That locks in the price.
In the Orions case, it would probably be worthwhile upgrading a Mole or buying the Orion as a standalone ship, players would get 4 handy ships, while they wait.
Usually a Ship will go up in price when it becomes flyable ingame.
so basically, buy a mole in the pledge, then upgrade it into a orion? Is that even possible since its a In-Concept ship?
do you still get the same loaner ships though? by upgrading?
Yes
I have a mole to hull c upgrade so I will probably use that then upgrade it to an Orion.
how do you upgrade it to an Orion? It doesnt sow up on the upgrade list
I’ll wait until IAE in November
ah like that
do you know if you will still recieve the loaners for the Orion? even tho you upgraded it?
Yup you get loaners for upgraded ships.
It's $575 plus tax and will be available to pledge on Rsi day during the IAE, until the end of thebevent
Nope it's just the prospector and Mole, not sure where you got the hammerhead and vanguard from
Soz, Yep you are correct, somehow I have included the Perseus Loaners as well. The Perseus is the next ship under the Orion

Last words we got about the Orion (I believe).
im getting an orion next iae sale. likely going to put my hull c to an orion and get the hull series pack
I want a dead-space like accident to occur on an Orion in deep space
Not mine, but one
we getting that new minning ship as laon?
I think
i lied, i got it on this one LOL
Hahaha nice
👍
How many folks here have also pledged for an Arrastra?
i havent yet. i might once i get a better comparison on how it works compared to the mole
seems to require a much larger crew, no?
After seeing what happened with the Reclaimer's claw... I doubt we'll be grinding up rocks with the Orion's first iteration
reclaimer claw got fucked because maelstrom isnt implemented, by the time orion gets released hopefully maelstrom is in so we skip the T0
wait wait wait wait, so you're telling me there's a refinery on that ship??
Yes
Mega nutting right now
As much as I'd love to see the Orion, its never coming
Let me rephrase - The Orion is very likely to come, but it wont be coming any time soon. Could be 5 years from all we know.
Other ships like the Idris, Pioneer, Polaris, Javelin, Banu Merchantman and the Kraken will most likely arrive before it.
Luckily the Idris and the Polaris are almost finished, Banu Merchantman is probably the second closest to being finished, then the Javelin, Pioneer, and maybe Kraken
Anything past the first three is just speculation though.
Well it's not as bad as i thought
Nobody but CIG knows when its coming. So I'd stop speculating for no reason lol
Hey, I love reading some entertaining speculation lol
Gimme the gossip!
😂

Well if we are to see Apollo with possible drone tech soon, do we think that might kick off some Orion discussions?
Orion wont happen sadly till they rework larger scale mining
What size mining laser is going to be on the Orion? If it’s S10 then they really gonna need to fill some holes. The arrastra probably going to be S3 maybe even S4 mining laser, need couple of ships to fill in the gap
Theres honestly no way to know the sizes rn because its so far out. I mean we already have the Golem > Prospector > Mole and then eventually Arrastra which will be sub-cap size and then the Orion.
So I think it will be a pretty solid line up it all will work out and theyll find a way to balance it.
it's gonna be probably biggest laser
specific size doesn't matter imo it'll just be the biggest
unless cig pulls an even bigger mining capital outta their butt
Next size up would probably be “mining” the suns
