#Galaxy Gang

just like the Tali
My Galaxy chain is finished 🎉🎉🎉🎉
You get to sit and wait like the rest of us now. 🤪
I bought another Galaxy ccu
Just to be safe
Can’t have bug citizen eat it
you needn’t worry
the only thing they’ll never let break for more than an hour is the pledge store
it is most important
Do we think galaxy modules will cop a price increase on release?
I always just assumed it would only be the ship itself
dont think so
Eh I’ll shove them all into my buyback this iae anyway
out of interest, do any galaxy waiters have a perseus in their asop? or have I been blessed by the bug gods?
I have one
Are you a subscriber?
ah yeah for this month
that is why
I applied my ccu chain after a year of careful curation
Perseus for £350
Very happy
And galaxy chain is done but not applied
£230
wow
Lucky
I'm currently in the process of getting all the galaxy modules into buyback so I am protected from price increases
Cargo one is currently sitting in pledge, as soon as the 24 hour window closes I will melt and get medbay then refinery
nice
Then I can get my alpha wolf
I loved my wolf so much
and alpha wolf looks cooler imo
Is there Ironclad Initiates or something anywhere
it's a bit weak they've announced the modules but not what happens if you don't have any
but also how the cargo one costs so much for basically an empty room
You mean for IC(A)?
Oh you mean galaxy
They did announce
They said it would just be a sealed empty room with nothing in
🙄
And cargo module has a point because of having an actual grid, cranes which count towards total cargo capacity and where you can store cargo, tractor beams, etc
yet somehow costing as much as an entire nomad, OX or hull A :/
500+ scu
Multiple times the size of an entire nomad, OX, or hull A
wait did I miss something? Was that in the talking ships I haven't watched yet? 😄
yeah Galaxy at IAE confirmed
omg finally.
You forget it’s cig
So just add a year
Then add another
Then it will release
12 months
But it won’t be done
jokes on you they've been pretty on schedule for the last 2 years
So it will release with no modules or some be like that
eh it will release with med + cargo my bet
Please refinery pleeeaaassee
I spent the last 3 days putting all the modules into my buyback
imma hope they release ingame at the same time
While Galaxy has looks its actualy poor value if you look at Galaxy+cargo module vs Ironclad
dont care
rule of cool is always more important
I HEARD THE NEWS!! YAAAAAAY
heh, a Galaxy module that is a Perseus belly turret would be interesting
how do you guys think the tractor rails will work?
They won't
Well ironclad is likely coming invictus and it has the rails, so hopefully they should be in the galaxy at iae?
they already confirmed galaxy at iae bro
they will
it is rather important
When they calculated the scu storage they included stuff carried on the rails
For all size containers or just the 32 SCU ones?
???
2026 galaxy iae
yes
he said that
he said that the rails have to be IN the galaxy when it releases at IAE
would be cool if each tractor had its own workstation so you could have 4 people zrping crates at hte same time
or 2 workstations that use 2 each for double carry weight
i mean
its 2 rails
with 4 heads
that are connected
definately 2 players working together to lift one crate /s
Which module are you guys going to be using at release?
Cargo or refinery
until arrastra, or basebuilding, itll be the best player refinery
Cargo would be my choice
Don't think basebuildung will be out next year. Doubt it
Exactly. Which is why a galaxy refinery will be the largest player refinery
what? no
you can clearly see there's 4 plates on each side
2 tall that makes 16 x 32 scu total
512
the rails are just tractor beams
I assume we'll just get a better tractor beam layout anyway
and scrap the rails on top
i think the rails are cool it’ll probs be a tractor beam that slides around the rails
instead of a fixed poo one like the polaris that has awful angles
what i think would be better is a bunch of TB's and one operator seat that can switch between them seamlessly
how much power would that use
the same cuz you can only use one at a time?
or 5 pips because there’s 5 active but not in use
i think the rails is cool and looks better
can slide around while moving the box too
whereas if you switch beams you have to drop it
explosive cargo go boom
why would you care
about power usage of TBs
just put it down bruh
Are the galaxy hangar metrics larger than the carrack?
About the same
The galaxy hangar is wider and higher
But length should be the same
What do u guys think the galaxy is missing but won't make it overpowered?
Hangar tractor beam function
to drag in floating boxes?
Boxes, ships, drones, people, Ore pods, etc.
Anything that would be dimensional clearance blocked by the cargo elevator
things that would be blocked by the cargo elevator dimensions aren't able to be picked up by ship-based tractor beams
first thing that comes to mind is nova tank and that's not
only srv can carry it afaik
The hangar bay entrance height is the same height as the landing feet clearance?
no
ship based tractor beams are not strong enough to carry the things that wouldn't fit through the elevator anyway
Dimensions do not equal weight....
well the things that wouldn't fit through the elevator are heavy enough that ship-borne tractor beams cannot handle them
if we get a tank at some point that is as big as the nova but as light as the nursa call me up then
so far there is only one ship that has a tractor beam big enough to carry things that wouldn't fit into the galaxy elevator and that's the SRV
Currently or forever?
This was a decent question about the Galaxy, my answer was a wish listed feature
^
dimensions do not equal weight you are correct but when it comes to things like vehicles and boxes full of materials, usually the bigger it gets the heavier it gets
so my point mostly stands anyway
There will be more objects than boxes and vehicles.
That is what etc. meant in my message above:

and again when things get bigger they usually get heavier
so except for a few edge cases my point will still stand
and for anything else just get an mpuv tractor
These are the future items I wish to move around with a Galaxy
you will either be able to move those by the maxlift or need an SRV
for the most part
You gonna need basebuilding module for those
To haul?
I think a the cargo module would suffice if you could load through the hangar entrance with a proper ship tractor beam.
Your pic shows structures and those can be build but not transported
These are the future items I wish to move around with a Galaxy
You could disassemble them and build them somewere else with basebuilding module.
OK, I was giving an example above about objects with large dimensions that may not necessarily be LARGE = Heavy
Feel free to read what the context was of this conversation starting here:

tbh, some modules i would love would be: repair module with repair drones, bounty module with evidence lockers like ironclad
definetely manufacturing module but tbh, that could be a planned module
Or like a hanger extension
reviving a dead clubhouse i see
i do like the idea of a bounty / combat module, but it would defo be more on the support side since thats where the galaxy sits
I dont thing the galaxy bounty modules role is active combat but rather prisoner transport
