that sounds good
did find some hadanite pretty quick, thanks for that. one of them rocks killed me even if i didnt overcharge it at all. better grab some med pens next time
dont forget to never mine straight down without a bucket of water
Lol
rawr
is gallog.com updated for 3.8?
Or alternatively, is anyone aware of good trade routes for 3.8
Where are some good spots for mining with the mole
daymar
If someone looking for a laser operator I'm available
Prospect good? Getting alot of mixed reviews seems to be “something to do” though
Rent one and see for yourself 😄
That’s true lol
So, I've heard and seen a lot about Yela being a good Agricium source. Been there today at three different spots and couldn't really find any good Agricium rocks. Is there a specific region people go to on Yela?
Are there regions? I just assumed rock distribution was entirely random
Idk at this point
The other day I was at Wala finding a good chunk of Agricium rocks
Today I was at all four waypoints and found maybe one Agricium rock
Found a lot of Taranite though, which I didn't find at all last time
Managed to get this
Had to stop at 80% cap because I was running out of fuel
Nah with a mate
Also bruh that 108k laser head
We earned it earlier today and it's so good
Thanks for bringing that up btw Arthur
Would've missed it entirely otherwise
Damn beacons man
@flint wasp nice mining there. in reference to the beacon payment, i was trying that the other night with a buddy and almost every time I posted, someone else would snatch it up even though he was standing right next to me in PO. I tried both escort and personal transport. I would have to immediately cancel the beacon when i saw someone else get it. im sure that didn't help my rating. anyways, google hasn't helped much in this situation. how have you made it work? Edit: we got just over 56K from Aberdeen, mostly from taranite. its a good one
Do you mean beacons?
95% of the time I'm in voice chat with the receiving side so we just count down
Confirming the other side got it etc
I'll put Aberdeen on my list of moons to check for mining
Yeah the beacons. Which beacon type would you use? I assume you were at whichever station together when you posted it?
I went back to Aberdeen today by myself and didn’t find any taranite. Prob will try again later.
Any good cargo runs rn?
Hey, fellow miners. I just got the Lanzer Mk2 head thingy. But it seems to have a REALLY close range laser. I checked and saw it had a 60 meters optimal range, and default laser had 75. That is a 15 meter difference, yet it felt much bigger of a difference. Unfortunately, i have no idea how to find out how far away i am from a rock lol. It only shows the range when you are far away, but once you get close, it vanishes. Any way to figure out range?
So I have a titan avenger, thinking about renting a prospector and then mining until I can get a freelancer
does that seem like a good "get a lot of money" plan?
Anyone here have Mole i can group with to try it out?
Prospector to caterpillar might be a better route
you can't rent a caterpiller
best place to sell med supplies?
Would renting an Andromeda or freelancer make more sense
for cargo, freelancer
Rent prospector then use it to buy cat
60-80k per run 1-2 runs per hour
~105k per hour
~47 hours to cat
Where are you buying a cat in game?
Levski
Yee
But you tagged the wrong Nathan d:
As long as you don't Tag Nathan Wood, you're all good
Nathan Wood is a Dev yeah, don't tag him lol
I’m trying to be super careful not to
is the avenger titan good for hauling
can do a few, highest capacity under $100
nice
Been hauling with my Caterpillar lately. Seems cargo size matters a LOT. Naturally. So I looked at the ship pipeline: Hull E and Banu Merchantman have much larger cargo capacities. But can they land on rest stops? Port Olisar? Lorville? Moon outposts?
I'm in Olisar with a Mole. where should I mine?
ok, OMW
Well, I kinda hit the surface kinda hard. but not dead.
oh shit, I need some engine glue,
and an engine., mine's missing
Duct tape. If you can't duct it, claim it.
it still works, sorta
@rare mortar only the Hull A and B can make transatmospheric landings laden
The C, D, and E are restricted to ports where they can dock, they're still pending ship to station docking tech
The Merchantman will very likely see a large drop in its cargo capacity as the devs implement how its stores work
But the merchantman is transatmospheric
The Hercules C2 is a transatmospheric logistics craft with 624 scu, still pending implementation
Most of the ships where you consider cargo size as "lots", you wont be landing on a planet.
^
The Idris P has just shy of 1k scu, and although it can land on planets it will likely take a lot of fuel to lift off again
The Kraken has shy of 3'800 scu and can land on planets, making it the biggest transatmospheric cargo craft at this time
But will also likely be a serious pain to lift off again
All scu numbers (and everything really) is subject to change
CONSTELLATION TAURUS < any views on this ship those who may have it?
not many youtube videos on it (recent)
looks pretty neat! huge.
it's not been released yet
let me rephrase - it's not currently flight-ready, therefor nobody has tested one in PU as of yet
?
Taurus is likely to have more cargo than the max, which is the same price
But the loaner is the Andromeda, and it sucks atm
whats the site that shows the most profitable cargo runs?
hey all, I did my mining run last night, but nothing shows up in sellable options at the trader despite cargo being full, is this bc this trader doesn't buy ore?
The prospector can hold around 1900mass of rock into her
@remote lagoon you have to go to specific stations I think (Levski is one of the main ones for mineables) and there's a specific kiosk for ores/minerals
I think the two nearest the main walkway on Levski are for mining goods
ah, I was just trying at the admin menu
well my ship bugged out and blew up anyway so there went 2 hours of mining lol
yeah 3.8 is a mess right now. i'm waiting on them to fix the trams in Loreville and correct the random disconnect issues before i give it another go
I just blew up while "fighting", with no one within 10km, and my ship keeps spawning without a thruster
I love the crap out of this game, but I think I'll be waiting too
reclaim mostly works out missing parts
@remote lagoon i also find if you use the commodities kiosk, and then get out of it and then go back in that helps. I've done that when it doesnt show up right away and its worked in the past
anyone have a good belt to mine? one that's not too far from a station to sell at? looking to do some quick mining trips to get used to mining more before i branch out and explore
what's a good hauling route for the freelancer?
scrap from CRU-L5 to Levski is probably the shortest/quickest and therefore the safest given the current state of 3.8
profit is low ~10% but you might find it works out in the long run given the current game stability
this is also a great route if you've only got ~5000 aUEC
I have like 35k right now
thanks @mental ivy I will try that next time
I wish gallog had trip distances
Hey, what's the cheapest ship I can use for cargo delivery missions
I was thinking of saving up for an Aurora ES in game but i wanna know if there are other options
cheapest ship that can do delivery with decent cargo i think is the Avenger Titan, with 8 SCU
aurora doesn't have any cargo space does it?
I think you're correct @crimson badge
I upgraded to a Cutlass since it has 46 or so
made the trading and fighting much better
I’m very new to the game and was wondering what the best way to make credits early in the game is.
what ship
@crimson badge But the Aurora has an interior right?
@white cairn I’ve got a titan
Try doing a bunch of delivery missions at once. Look for places with duplicate or similar buy/sell locations
combat is doable too. Try accepting the Call to Arms mission while doing bounty missions
Ok thank you
Delivery missions: You pick up a box from a vending machine and carry it to another. Requires no investment on your part. Very low risk.
Only real requirement is a ship with an interior you can stand up in. You can't do it in a fighter that is just a cockpit chair.
And apparently, there is currently a bug where you cannot carry a box up a ladder. This is mostly a problem for the 300 series.
any tips for a guy with a prospector?
Dont always go for the fist rock you see
Ive had decent luck mining most planets around crusader
i like the yela surface, look for laranite or agricium. if you cant crack them look for gold and diamond titanium and copper. try to get the helix minig laser for 100k and you can crack almost everything
Can you buy laser for a ship you rent?
yep
did that today, but not sure if it disappears after rental time if its still attached
anyone know if port tressler has a trade terminal? i'm going to head out but would like to bring a load with me... having a hell of a time finding anything online
i feel like there isnt... but unsure
yes, there is a trade terminal at port tressler, in the admin office last time i checked
im not sure i understand the reliant kore - it costs more than the Titan while having less cargo space, less offensive capabilities
Ship cost is pretty subjective
so the concept of the reliant family was two main things
alien-y and two seats
so thats what it does over the other ships of rough comparison
the SEN can scan for hand minables also
Freelancer max or the Constellation Taurus for cargo?
taurus isnt flight ready, and theres next to no information about it... the loaner is a phoenix, which has less cargo than the MAX (96 SCU vs 120SCU)
if it were me, i'd grab the max for now and wait until we know more on the taurus... can always CCU later... but frankly the entire connie line needs a rewwork these days
MAX currently has the 3rd most cargo of all flyable ships right now afaik (behind starfarer and caterpillar)
Is the prospector worth upgrading components on? If so what should I upgrade?
Yes sorry haha
The mining laser for 108k (roughly) is certainly a worthy upgrade
Oh ok might be awhile before I can afford it but will try and get it then thanx!
Oh I see. Ya I haven't actually mined with the prospector yet but working towards renting it!
Usually out of 3 deliveries I can make at least one without getting shot down or game crashing
What is this thing that comes out the back of the prospector? And is it functional somehow?
It's supposed to be used for letting some inert material out of the tanks. The mechanic is not in yet though
gotcha, thanks
is it possible to share profits from mining with the mole ?
no
You can in a way, using beacons
Create some beacon missions for the amount you want to pay your crew
Not very elegant, but gets the job done
tried that earlier today and some randos accepted
Hey so I’m at Levski to buy the Mining tool but at the grey cat stand it’s not there. Does this mean it’s sold out and how long to I have to wait before I’m able to buy it
Use one of the terminals on the walls
Oh ok thank you
Also when I’m hand Mining and I break the rock it seems that I can only pick up a couple of the mineral before the rest disappear. Is there a way to fix this?
ok finnaly got a prospector and now im out in the yela astroid field. when i scan nothing shows up... how are u guys finding stuff?
I think that's part of their item duplication exploit fix
Dropped items frequently delete now
Yela's best mining is on the surface iirc
how do u guys find rocks to mine? i have been flying along time now nothing still. any tips or tricks?]
I am doing something majorly wrong i went mining and got 3,400 most was inert material any advice or tips or any help would be so much appreciated!
Prospector is now able to mine and extract ore from rocks on moons, so watch this to figure out how to make that work and to make credits!
New to the game and want to start with 5000 extra credits? Help me and you out by using the code below to join up:
https://enlist.thebas...
It’s easier to see than have it written out
@wraith tree ty
Then after watching the basics check this out https://www.space4games.com/en/star-citizen-en/star-citizen-the-ultimate-mining-guide/id-1047/
It has a list of what stuff is good and what percentages are acceptable for each
awesome thanx!!
still a bit disheartening that CIG does not save cargo when crashing when the game is this unstable :(, i understand that in the end it's suppose to be a risk running it in case you get shot down but 99% of the time when i lose cargo it's either to crash or dc
that's why i said it would be nice of them to make it so you keep cargo with all the crashes of an alpha
that makes no sense. making a "fix" for this issue is not going to take remotely as long as to make the servers not crash every day.
game is taking long regardless, might as well make it playable meanwhile
same to you dude, it's pointless talking to a yes-man
why do rocks always explode? its totally fine in the green then boom
twice in a row now. like i hit red but i stopped backed off came back started over and boom
i stopped as soon as it hit red but it went all the way to like 60% then started going back down to like 40 and then i gently started again not sure if i was even in the green when it exploded
explodeds my ship every time too so freaking piss off
well server crashed right after so probably related to that
i am having a small problem.. I am unable to equip the multi tool I found one.. and bought a mining head for it.. i could not use it. so i bought a 2nd one.. and now i own 4 laser heads for them. I have removed the user file and reverified install. I still have said problem
You equip it in the utility slot?
i can not do anything.
Then a new slot apears below it
no button for it shows up
i bring it up.. And 2 show that i own.. I then can get Both to be in use.. Then i can get the Place holder spot. I click on that.. Nothing... No green equip button or anything
Bottom right is the save loadout button?
clicked it and does nothign..
Click 4 to take your multi tool out?
does not happen.
i tried it in a cave but did not do anything
I've never heard of this glich you sure you are equiping it right?
I've seen them outright disapear but thats a different weapon related glich
i am at tammy and sons right ow
i have streamed this to a group i am playing with,. they have theirs working. I have done everything thing that was told to me to do. I could stream it again if needed.
what the problem i see is that there is no mining attatchment available to put on his tool, even after purchasing 3
well i am goign to quit the game and goto bed.. I will try some more tomorrow.
Where is the best place to mine for Bexalite etc?
And Aaron Halo is decent
hey is there a reason why i cant select an amount of etam to sell on grim hex? it just says waiting for item
inventory likely full
now it worked after exiting the office
Etam at hex is a rough time
Refresh rate is 10
So once the first 800 units are full, it only frees up 10 units per minute
Hows Aberdeen for mining?
Is the mole supposed to scan rocks from the pilot seat?
Or just the mining turrets?
it scans from the pilot seat
You can scan from the pilot seat
But I haven’t been able to get mass readings and mineral types, etc from the pilot seat.
Not sure if that is or will be a capability later.
I got mineral types
Oh??
Oh that’s good stuff. I will have to check that out today.
ive been soloing on it, so its good you can do that
Yeah I’ve been soloing it as well. It works pretty good solo. No complaints from me.
extra capacity is great
Have you upgraded a mining head on it yet?
Which one? I can’t decide which to go with
there is only one upgrade I believe ?
Shubin
only one in olisar
ahh
any tips on finding the best ores?
I’ve just been using this as a guide. https://www.space4games.com/en/star-citizen-en/star-citizen-the-ultimate-mining-guide/id-1047/
Hah me too, couldnt find anything on Aberdeen though
I had a food haul from Aberdeen the other night - 56k auec
But since then not so much. Seems pretty random. Which makes sense.
havent done any hauling at all
Meant mining, not hauling
Hauling what I mined lol
I found no nodes at all when I looked
Hdms norgaaard
Then flew around down there. Good luck!
Broken7six is my ign. Add me if you want.
@hollow sedge ?!
What ores you trying to get?
I was trying to get Bexalite, or some top tier one
Are you ship mining or multitool mining
In a Mole
What head do you have on your lazer?
How much uec you got?
not much 15k
The yela system is best bro. I make 50-90k a run
Nice, what were you mining mainly?
But your lasers are too weak. Youll need an impact or a helix
ah
I mine laranite, borase, and hepa
In the belt. Also the planet itself would be best for yoy
Id recommend the yela moon
Your look for it starts with agrasomething
But you can quickly fill your ships as sometimes you find clusters of like 10 rocks on the moons surface
Agricium?
If your not finding nodes than you need to get close to the planets surface
Thats it
Youll find more nodes the closer you are to the ground i find
Ok, will give it a shot just now
I think its getting close enoug to render the rocks
Once you get an impact than you can do asteroid mining in the belt
But youd get better results putting an impact on a prospector
I swear by the impact. I prefer it over the helix unless the rock is insanely unstable
https://www.deltaconsultingsc.com/stanton-sfd or download a star map from here have it printed
Is mining or hauling more profitable?
depends. once you get a Cat, you can be making a ton of money hauling
currently with the 30k bugs, you're also risking your entire cargo
I don't want to pay $ for a cat, and I'm sure they're quite expensive in game...
mining is much cheaper/easier to get into. just get a hand-mining tool, then go to a cave
David
Need 240k
The helix head for the prospector is a must
Or if your bold an impact head
You can barely break the rock with prospectors default head
@lavish hornet
Agreed, maybe get the Freelancer MAX, do cargo runs until you have 300k
is it really 300k to RENT a freelancer?
33952 to rent it for a day
he was saying I could run cargo until I had 300k to get a prospector and laser upgrade
@pure scarab commenting here to not mess with the lfg, I couldnt sell at levski (unless there is a secret terminal)
is there a good website to track cargo runs?
@hollow sedge what exactly are you looking to track?

Man rentals are expensive
does gallog record a user's trades?
hey pros. is that 108k mining laser worth it?
for the prospector. i´m a lonely miner 😄
Yes the helix is the must for the prospector
Its the best versatile head
Or if your a beast you can run the impact
mh i´ve already bought the hofsted or something. you got that helix?
it is? alright i like it more than the stock one so far. gonna save my money for that helix then 😄
The impact can be very very good
You can mine things up to 5 stability with it
And its 55k
the impact does lower the instability, right?
No not at all
Inpact has the highest energy into the rock, no stability dampening might even make the stability worse, and more catastrophic explosions
But its beast in skilled hands. I use it as the primary laser. For how bad it can be if yoy screw up. I detonated a rock with the impact and we were launched 25km away, out of the asteroid field, blacked out the whole crew for a minute and nearly destroyed the ship
Which was a mole
haha well in skilled hands you say. i´m quite new to mining. been playing for a couple of years but never been interested in mining. so i think my way will be saving money for the helix then 🙂
Ite cause the fracture gauge can be wrong
yeah i see. thanks for your help, gonna do some trades to get that 100k together
Any good advice for mining the roid belt at Yela? Currently using a prospector with klein and only yielding 10k a run
What mining head cyndre
Klein
What resources are you mining?
tbh whatever I come across, not finding much atm other than titanium
Highest yield is laranite, hepa, and borase
Are you in game. You have to fly to a good spot in the field
The field isnt made equal
Guessing that's the issue, need to fly deeper into the field. Trying to get a feel whether mining is for me before going for a Mole
Ill tell you how to get there.
On the moon look for me i think theres a place called deacons or d???? Something
Look at the moon and tell me the name of the place on it that starts with a d
The yela moon
tbh can't see any waypoints on it
ah I can see a deakins research outpost
Yes
Quantum to the moon than quantum to deacon's
Than fly out into the field heading towards crusader
Youll find laranite, borase, hepa, gold and diamond. With your weak head you need to focua on the gold and diamond
When you upgrade to the helix than you can get the other 3
No more titanium, no more copper or whatever trash your mining now. Get diamond and gold only
Or those 5
ah brilliant cheers mate!
You might be able to get laranite and the other two depending on the size of the asteroid
Also
At grimhex get a rucksack core because on the asteroids themselves youll find valuable fps mineables that you can eva out and get @magic karma
ah got the rucsack and mining laser, got some nice hadanite when I went to Daymar but so much time to not a great profit. I'll take your advice and work this field. Really appreciate the advice
Youll find hadanite on those asteroids @magic karma
can you not log out in your prospector?
No you cant
I dont think there is a bed in there and logging out is bugged even if there is
well there is a bid, i can either sit/lie down on it
but yeah, no option to log out is given
Dont
Logging off in beds is bricking peoples accounts
Also prevously i logged off in a bed and when i spawned back in i was in the sun at the center of the system
I've been logging off in my avenger Titans bed regularly since the patch...
have any of you been racking up station fines since 3.8? Im landing on the pad as best I can but then I get fined
have only gotten one parking fine so far
how do you auto land?
hold 'N'
the freelancer max is given small landing pads for some reason and it barely fits
You have to be within your landing cube though
You should use auto land then, it centers you perfectly every time
are you ar ethe mining kiosk? there is a different one for that than for other commodities
im at the admin office, console on the right
I think something is up at lorville, the trams arent moving either so i cant even leave to go back to the spaceport
I was playing with some last night who got fines from auto land. I've been using auto land too and I had a 1200 uec fine that I had no idea I even had
I got a random fine from landing as well.
People who run cargo, what route are you doing? Also is it better to rent a freelancer or a coni? For now I am playing with my cutlass (which I own).
I think a freelancer is better
the connie has more scu than a freelancer tho
but it can't land on hex like a freelancer can
I think
plus then you have a connie
I heard someone said that if you log off the rented ship will disappear. Is that a random bug?
i dont know. i´ve rented a prospector a few days ago and had no problems with it
Question all day I have not been able to get personal quest for delivery. I have no crimestat and am in grim hex. is there something I am missing that does not activate them ?
you´ve been somewhere else? i get lots of personal deliveries around PO, A18 and Levski
I went to hurston nothing a18 nothin
i get other missions but not the delivery, my mate just gets them fine
where is the landing zone for new babbage?
i dont believe there is one yet
Is the Mole not available for purchase with aUEC?
is there any cargo you all wish was in the game
seems likely to be there
I see, the only Argo ships at Levski were the mpuv and the cargo one
btw some ppl wanted to gift me ships
can u just give other ppl ships?
or do they disappear after you land with them and store them?
if you loan ship within the game it is temporary (at the moment and likely until at least late beta if not launch)
it is however, possible to gift ships/packages via the rsi website
that is permanent
ah thank you
if you reclaim a ship at a console while the other player still has your ship, does he get to keep it?
hey guys i bought that helix mining laser for my prospector but that tractor beam won´t collect the stones i mined. anyone got an idea?
i see the mining head has some sub item slots, do i need something in there?
Should work, let me go try mine
Mining has been bugged for me today like hell
seems to work now after i switched the server
btw what does fit in those sub item slots? anyone knows?
@wanton barn
There should be consumables in the future that you can put there... Not out yet
consumables aight thank you 🙂
Where do I sell mined material in Arccorp? Doesnt seem to be a terminal for it in TOD
TDD*
at admin
space4games guide says i/o north tower, is that wrong?
ok, so i guess the tower is the admin, but i only see the regular trade terminals
Oh found it. it looks fucking identical to the other regular trade terminals
does anyone know where R&R cru l1 is? google says it orbis crusader but i cant find it on the map
Anyone know if the Argo Carbon will be out anytime soon?
i think its been out
ill get you a link
Roberts Space Industries is the official go-to website for all news about Star Citizen and Squadron 42. It also hosts the online store for game items and merch, as well as all the community tools used by our fans.
@hollow sedge
how fast can you sell drugs such as Neon on GrimHex
i am still unable to equip my multi tool so i can mine.
For me, hoping back into my cockpit and backing out fixed it
Is it possible to mine with the base aurora?
@tropic barn
Aurora itself cannot mine.
But you can do FPS mining with the right handheld equipment in any ship.
That would be the mutli tool with mining head, and the high capacity backpack armor.
whats the cheapest ship that i can get that can mine
@twin tapir
i want to start a mining organization and work from bottom to top
yep thats for 1 day
With a helix head you can make that in one run
So what’s the best way to do it then?
FPS mine to 41000 then rent prospector and helix head and make enough money till I can buy it out right?
I only made $3k to $13k for like two hours of mining with it so unless you know what your doing bountying hunting will making you way way more money
Never mind the fact that the server is always crashing so it's based in luck if you even get to sell your mining load
So do bounty hunting till u can afford the prospector ( if you want to do mining)
Well bounty hunting makes way more then mining so your just wasting 41k on it
But ya
Also delivery missions when they work also make good money of you stack them. But I can almost guarantee that if your lucky enough that they work the server will crash before you get your money
Basically you have to wait for 3.8.1 or 3.8.2 before you can earn some good money reliably
Welcome to star citizen
@young galleon also if you plan to do bounty missions make sure you accept the mission call to arms. It basically pays you for each ship you destroy when you bounty hunt
@young galleon oh and btw it's not possible to rent ships atm lol dont know why but ya sometimes it even just takes your money and you get nothing. But who knows you may get lucky
@simple river ahh okay so why specifically 3.8.1 / 3.8.2 ?
@young galleon so that the bugs are fixed. They'll probably fix them within the next few patches
Oh so 8.3 has brought all these bugs?
Do we know when these patches will be out @simple river
Ya exactly it's a pretty major update. And no clue assumably sometime early January but we dont know. Just gotta accept the bugs for now and try and do stuff that wont get you to pissed off when the game crashes or 1 of the other 20 things happens haha. So ya for example we spent about an hour mining with the mole then once we travel to sell it all bam server crashes we lose everything kinda a piss off. Which is why now I bounty hunt mostly. Get payed per kill and missions are super quick so when the game crashes no big deal. But ya that's just me do what you enjoy but be prepared to lose it all if you go mining or do deliveries @young galleon
@simple river yeah Cos I do wanna start a mining company hopefully , think it will be cool to have a full mining operation going with the mole and such
ya definitely would be cool
hey guys how do i see what i mined with my ship? (not hand-mining)
There are only two ships that can mine: The Prospector and the Mole. Prospector is only one that can mine solo.
thats not true... you can mine solo with the mole also ... its just hard and annoying
which is better and more profitable the mole or the prospector to mine?
If you’re by yourself the prospector because you’ll move between rocks faster
If you have another person then the mole, def if you have 3
Best drive to stick in a prospector to make the trip from PO to MT not so bad?
@patent frost stick with the stock. Anything else requires more fuel stops.
well crap.. does renting ships not work in 3.8? Should have 16 hours left of my rental prospector but its gone
@green edge think it's bugged currently
So is there nothing to mine on Microtech, or am I looking in the wrong place
I've found one hand-mine deposit in 30 mins
are there any recommendations on where to mine with a prospector?
@simple river if you didn't make more than 13K for 2 hours of mining in the Prospector, its likely that you don't really know how to mine yet. Following a few simple guides should get you to making 30K/45 min or less
@crimson badge any recommendation on guides?
no one in particular, just a quick google for mining, several youtube videos on it. But a few pointers: stick to high-value ores, skip low-value ones (just go on the the next rock). stick to high-yielding rocks (a cargo full of inert materials is a waste).
last updated in November, still mostly accurate
mining in the prospector is currently better on planets/moons, as asteroids tend to be far apart
is anybody else getting disconnected?
go to Yela and look for diamond/agricium/laranite rocks, skip the rest
i personally don't mine any rocks with less than 70% total high-value content (meaning that inert materials are <30%) - and by mine, i mean extract - i'll fracture any rocks with high-value ores until they're broken-down to the extraction stage, then I evaluate their content
even if the rocks look not that great at first (you find a laranite rock with 4%, for example), i still mine it, as there's a chance you get to a 75%+ laranite chunk when you're done breaking it into smaller chunks
So do you lose your rented ship after you logout/get disconnected?
That's what happened to me.
So if you rent one and crash 10 minuets after, that's all you get for the 24 hours
how do you find rocks to mine? TAB and then scan for them?
It feels like I spend a lot of time flying around looking for rocks.
@crimson badge when you say go to Yela, do you mean the planets surface?
yes, planet's surface
and yes, you'll spend most of your time flying around looking for rocks to mine
tab to switch to scanning mode, hold trigger until its 100% charged, then release
you can fill your entire cargo hold with good value ores with only 2-3 rocks total, so a 35-minute port-to-port mining trip involves 5 -10 minutes of getting to/from the planet, 5-10 minutes of mining, and the rest is flying around scanning for good rocks.
@crimson badge I have read that guide like 5 times and I have researched probably for 5 hours on how to mine and I still cant do it. I'd almost need to do a ride along with someone and be taught.
Hi guys. Im trying to do some research into getting a fun group activity going for me and my friends, and was wondering about investing into the Argo Mole. Is it any good, does it work properly etc.?
/laugh2
Is there a way to boost the prospector to be able to mine bigger rocks. And if not what gear is recommended?
The Helix (I think it's called Helix. It's the most expensive mining head) helps.
With the normal laser you can usually break rocks below 4k mass. I've managed to get up to 6k broken up with the Helix
Do i need to upgrade the power plant to?
No but get better shields. Palisade
Haven't run into getting damaged from rocks anymore tbh. Standard shields have done me well so far
Upgrading powerplant is not necessary
Helix has -150. When it blows...it blows.
Server lag is a thing lol. Thankfully hasn’t blown on me yet.
The debuffs it brings aren't very important as long as you are moderately careful
Okay ty for the info.
Np
My brother is a miner but I want to get into cargo.
the helix is super good
im searching on gallog where to do shipments but I am not doing to well.
I wonder if the S2 on the mole is going to change at all
at the moment it says it has "S2s" but they are just reskined S1s
Theoretically those should be more powerful, I guess
the mole is just suppose to have one S2 at the front
the 2 side ones are suppose to be S1s
Yea
Wish rucksack came in other colors. Lol
SO the S2 should be a beast of a hardpoint
yo, is the Prospector a good money-maker?
Yes
Do it up, you can make that 41k back in like two trips.
@proven token where do you mine?
Nice
The surface of Daymar or surface of yela
sometimes I explore near grimhex, but it seems like the astroids are not as good there anymore
yela has been great especially near the poles
snow area, a lot of hand minables in big groups are there for me usually
Are hand mineables the diamond symbol?
I wish it was faster to get out of the prospector lol
half the time i bug out when trying to get back IN the prospector - i end up on the roof
best place to mine?
Trader question - whats considered an ok income, say per hour, trading with a medium scu capacity ship? Pretending there is enough capital to trade in the more valuable commodities?
@proven token How do you make most of the money, is it mining with the ship or on the ground?
@rough flame im not a super expert as I havent played much this patch
Handminables in groups can make you bank especially hadanite.
However, recently getting high % high value ores only is the way to make money
With a prospector or mole
Basicly I ignore singles myself but groups i get out and collect them
Ask others too I have been away from this patch due to vacation.
:)
@proven token thank you for the info, will do 🙂
good luck man
ty 🙂 you to
@fleet pumice prospector is mostly just worth it if you have the helix mining tip which costs 100k without it's much harder to make a good profit and honestly hand mining will probably make more if you dont have the helix tip
Ahh, okay, thanks for the notice
is cargo running in a max worth it ?
lancer max with 120scu haul argium from lyria lovridge mineral res to a18 on arc corp should be nice returns
full load of agricium sohould proffit ove 100k a trip
is there anyplace to sell medical supplies in bulk ?
Hey, what's the ratio of SCU to cSCU?
Nice, thanks @light star
Hey, question, what's a safe ping to do trading in?
just expect that at some point you will dc while hauling cargo. Accept it, its part of the game currently.
That or quantum into a planet.
yea, i QT'd into a planet today carrying deliveries... i'd hate to think what it would've felt like with a full hold of cargo
also the delivery packages survived incident, but ended up 15.5k below the planet's surface
Hey, question, is there a glitch with the cargo terminals right now?
I just bought a lot of cargo and it said the transaction timed out, but it took my money anyway
Just my luck...
~180 k aUEC gone
So nobody else has encountered this?
@finite grotto If I log out in my bed will my cargo be safe?
I've honestly never risked it
I had my cargo of ore remain while logging out in my Mole - but it's never a for sure thing
Damn :/
My current goal is to try and hit 1m
Only at 70k after losing 100k to a 30k
i'm going to try and relog after landing to see if it decides to give me my cargo
well that sucks
It did not give me cargo
so im about to go broke i got 1200 left, i hear i can place courier mission boxes inside an aurora and do those for quick cash?
or am i better off trying to run distilled spirits
you can kinda finagle them into an aurora but it's rough. you generally have to like, hover the ship upside down near the ground and shove them behind the pilot's seat
it used to be easy in 3.7 -- you could just walk up the ladder with the box. but that's gone now
I've heard placing them inside the ship from outside has brought some success
ill try both and just experiment then
yea, there's like... a trick to tossing the packages in. it's generally not a great experience but it's not impossible. people tend to favor the avenger titan as a starting ship for this reason -- it has a cargo bay with a ramp
yeah i just wanted to get into the game asap and was pretty broke, when i get some spare cash ill try to figure out how to get the titan via melting down my aurora. im still not 100% sure how that works
it's just called "upgrades" these days in the interface
basically, you can just go, i like my package but not my ship. you pay the difference, go to your web hangar, apply the upgrade thingy it puts in your web inventory, and your ship is swapped out forever
cool yeah i hope to go from aurora>titan>cutlass at least and then from there see how the game progresses
yea, that's what i did too. and you can upgrade multiple times if you feel like it (although the titan's a great ship -- arguably better than the cutty b if you're a solo pilot who doesn't want to haul)
the aurora MR -> avenger titan upgrade cost me $25
once i decided some time later that i really loved the aesthetics on the cutlass and wanted to bring a friend in the turret, i upgraded from the titan to the cutlass for the difference again (at $50 this time)
what would you say the pros/cons are between the two? i was mostly looking at the cutlass's cargo capacity as an upgrade
so to start, they both have a cargo ramp and about the same solo firepower. there's some differences but not too many in that area
the main differences are:
the titan is faster and a lot more nimble. you can run fixed turrets on it if you want -- it's more of a dogfighter
the titan is better for deliveries because of the above as well. get in, get out
the cutlass has a great top turret for a friend and a huge rack of missiles compared to the avenger
the cutlass has 46 SCUs of cargo, making it a great starting hauler
the cutlass has some weird VTOL jets that i kinda love but they're tricky to get the hang of swapping their modes
ah, i love swapping the vtol mode in a fight to get some really fast up/down strafes
ill probably upgrade to titan for sure and then see if cutlass is rentable and try that one out
yea, they're both rentable for a modest price. please be aware that rentals seem to be a little bugged right now -- instead of being a day it's a death or until you log
might want to wait for 3.8.1 for any serious rental biz
also they're both extremely popular ships and you can probably just ask someone if they can pull one for you and let you try it out
awesome
i'd stick to a bounty / merc mission to give it a whirl, yea. getting back into the ship after getting out can be tricky sometimes if it's not yours
yeah im kind of vain with ships though too so that gives me an opportunity to check out the interiors and how they feel, ill deffo try to get into a mission though and see how they handle
yea. each manufacturer has a strong flavor as well. aegis, makers of the avenger, are highly militaristic designs with a lot of earth influence. drake, makers of the cutlass, are basically pirate rustbuckets primarily composed of lots of guns strapped to enormous engines
lol that is interesting, the titan does have a nicer aesthetic
i thought the opposite -- the titan was too clean for me. i wanted the rustbucket XD
drake's my favourite manufacturer because all of its ships do things like not even bothering to cover the pipes inside
ahh well see there are a lot of different flavors
lol, yea. they'll go a million miles an hour face first into their doom
(cutlass shields leave... a lot to be desired XD )
that's true, yea. i've been trying to stop at the cutlass so i have something to work towards when we hit persistence ^_^
maybe in 3.9 i'll buy a single-seat no-frills fighter in addition to the cutlass just for fun
nice, thanks. i'll check em out
Im gonna upgrade to the cutlass today from the titan, honestly i like the titan but it just seems so weird to me idk why , also the horrible clipping issues are unberable
clipping issues? i don't recall running into those
If u have a friend on board anywhere in the ship mid flight it will throw him out/kill him not only that if u are in qt mode and try to leave the pilot seat and walk around it will clip u outside and bam u are stuck
huh, weird. i've been happily walking around it np
Weird it happens to me every single time
i wonder if it's hardware dependent, like some bizarro framerate issue
i just remember a bunch of games in the past where like, specific performance rates caused issues
but really weird issues
Honestly i think i should rent the cutlass before upgrading to it and see if i like it or not, although i have a feeling i will
yea, i love it
also i found an article to remind me. so in dark souls 2, going from 30fps to 60fps caused your weapons to degrade twice as fast. somehow it was tied to framerate
Oh oof
in kingdom hearts it fucked with boss physics and could cause the game to be unbeatable XD
yep, it's great
Any specific good cargo run you can suggest?
i use https://sc-trading.kamille.ovh/trading/ to calculate for me. note that the port on the other side has to have enough demand to actually sell later, and olisar currently won't show me the trade menu so i try to avoid it
...also that yea. i QT'd into a planet earlier today
that really messed up the run XD
in a cutty i rarely make more than 6k on a hauling leg
@plush mantle ye my issue with finding trade runs is the fact that you need to know the sell demand so its hard to find a good one
so it's not like, crazy cash, but it's decent
i tend to do it as supplemental income during deliveries. i punch in my box pickup location while i'm in QT and see what i can fill up on for more money on the delivery
yea ^_^
typical full-cutty holds are worth like +2k to +6k, with occasional +10k outliers
@vivid sleet do u think the route u said will work well for a cutlass?
i think what the cutlass is well suited to hauling is drugs. the receiving end often has low total units worth of demand so the cutlass' small hold isn't a downside, and it's faster than its big hauler counterparts
(pirate ships gonna pirate)
150 SCU is often more than demand can meet, at least from what my friend says hauling
maybe he's running on too-populated servers or something?
How low is the sell demand for e'tam for example it seems super profitable so i guess its probably really low
For example i shouldnt fill my cutlass with it right?
MAX is 120 atm*
Still decent enough if you are hauling Drugs
But a little lack luster if doing scrap or such
I heard altruciatoxin is good, is that right?
For Mining, can you store the gems you mined into a ship?
@echo marsh Altruciatoxin is one of the cheaper vices and sells comparably quicker than other drugs
Ye thats what i heard
epic
press x to flip
Where the hell is paradise cove
Im in om 3 in lyria but the planet doesnt look even remotly similar to the videos xD
New planet tech yo
Since 3.8 update, videos from 3.7 or previous are no longer useable for planetary navigation
The planets Iook different
Triangulation is still mostly accurate, if you can get 3 distance markers, you should be able to find what you need
you'd think in the year 2900+, with QT and whatnot, we'd be able to have planetary coordinates and markers
but no
that shit's too advanced
There's no quantum marker for it, because it's a unofficial location
It's a drug lab after all
It's rough that we can't place our own waypoints
Also rough that we can't blind qt anymore
Anyone knows a good cargo run for cutlass?
I have 70k btw
So i think i can do some more expensive stuff
Distilled Spirits on Cellin Family Farms > Mining
With 46 scu, the cutlass doesn't have great prospects for commodity hauling
But 70k is enough to rent a prospector for a day, and start mining Yela
I've mined on Aberdeen and have a full cargo now. Where can I sell the contents?
I am so mad rn oof , had 60k of cargo on my way to port olisar and BAM server crashed yikes
Heck
Most stations have a mining terminal at admin
If you're at olisar, walk past the admin desk and look for a terminal on the wall of the admin office
Is mining really that profitable that its worth to rent for 70k a day?
@granite meteor
Most stations have a mining terminal at admin
If you're at olisar, walk past the admin desk and look for a terminal on the wall of the admin office
Thank you
And if you 30k at least you don't lose your starting investment like cargo
Happy to help
Fair enough
Is it worth it to hand mine with a backpack and at how much profit would I be looking on average with a full backpack?
20k for a backpack full of hadanite
But really time consuming
I'd just go ship mining with prospector instead
So... should i have only 9k rn (and cutlass), what should i do?
Should i give up on doing cargos and instead do some bountys to be able to rent the prospector and go mine?
Most profitable thing right now is claimjumper missions AFAIK
If they work, ye
Second to that are the personal delivery missions.
I wouldn't try 8k bounties in a Cutlass without a gunner. Then again, I suck at combat.
Doing bounty on players is really ez with a titan so doing it with a cutlass should be easier right?
🤷♂️ I'm a trucker
Why my carrack now does not have flaky of 1000 scu yet it looks fatter then before?? Is she pregnant or something??????
I like the fat look but where my scu?
Didn't they redesign because they couldn't fit everything in?
Im a professional cargo hauler, i need the flaky
I dont need pads, i do docking. ??
???
To cargo unknown alien material to civilisation to sell for insane value
You still can...it'll just require more trips
Ok, but then, i want fuel to be large and very cheap and QT travel extremely fast to make up for it.
I dont like buying pig in the bag
Just subcontract a few Freelancers for a percentage of the profits
Hmm.... nice idea.
Ok i will think about it, but if its not proper i will file complaints!
Thank you CoyoteJohn
Ok im kinda new into this all thing what are u guys talking about?
Shipping alien materials?

??? I explore, i find, i place in carrack, i fly home or to a BMM and sell for high price.
Trading i suppose, what, you wanna be poor?? In space? How u make your flaky?
I wanna see these aliens ur talking about
Mm me too

Cig sell exploration ship, i assume aliens or non humans will exists. Xian, banu, vanduul. Its ok, i do business with all of them
You have big moustache Alpha
Oh i get it now
???
Wait why do u assume the value will be high?
Or rare, always a buyer somewhere
I mean it seems like the aliens are already doing buisnesses with humans
Hmm... maybe there will be unknown aliens, or maybe they have something one needs to find. ?? Cig will know and have planned something. Why create exploration / cargo ship mm ?
True
I hope they add alien wenches
Also it would make the existence of the pioneer actualy useful
For negotiation purposes
Yes true very true
Okay, we will see. Not happy buying pig in bag. Need 1000 scu. Dont need med bay, player / npc die they die. Have to wait and see
True but i do think the carrack with 466 scu is still very useful mainly due to the fact it seems like it can do everything (not mining tho)
Still downgrading from 1k to 466 is harsh
Many ships can fly here or there, only value for carrack is finding things first and able to store it first.
True
How much qt will it be able to hold tho thats what i wanna know tho
Although i think anything over 2k qt fuel will be able to "explore" pretty well
Also, rsi is shit, why i get ursa rover i want anvil rover?
Yes 2k is acceptable
Anvil pisces, where is anvil rover?
Hmm.... we wait and see
Ye
I would like, if i dream, like in Alien to be able to attach "tug" mechanic so i can haul something behind carrack. Perhaps modular pods with cargo. Become a tug boat. Why not. Its fat already, looks like a boat. Tug mechanic would be fantastic but for gameplay very fragile, you have to go slow. Like nostromo
Whats for dinner? Its sunday, i wanna eat tasty. Maybe chinese food.
Number 1!
Or Number 2, depending on what you have
Combo 3 with egg drop soup
General Tso's Chicken, Shrimp Lo Mein, and Dim Sum
I think there's a food chat
lol
I love shipping processed food though
Human food bars
Generic
Trustworthy
Good for any meal
should get a new discord started for unaffiliated traders like they had in EVE
A CB radio for space truckers kinda thing. Let others know where pirate activity is and what routes to avoid.
Oh that would be cool
anyone know a good cargo run for someone with low money
Start with scrap from an R&R to Olisar?
Might be better to do a bunch of package deliveries from levski first
ye did that for a bit alr
got 40k currently
wanna snowball abit
is there anything from olisar i can sell to an R&R
to make two way runs?
Medical supplies, but it's hardly worth the time
Which ship are you hauling with?
i got a connie
Hydrogen from Levski to just about any R&R
Sorry, not Levski
Some of the mining outposts
Someone really should pin this link

Hydrogen is only good if you have no money but have a ton of space
The commodities section is great for building your own routes
just like with anything, the information therein may or may not be fully up-to-date
oh wrong chat
@echo marsh see link above. Good resource.
Large stations (Olisar, Loreville, A18, etc.) have extremely high sell limits. The R&R stations not so much. But, you can still sell there in smaller quantities every 50 seconds or so.
Maybe because im on my phone?
Hydrogen at ArcCorp mining 157 has a capacity of 576'000 units (10 caterpillars) and refreshes at 269 units per minute (1.345 argo cargo per minute)
Selling is basically not limited
92'592 units per minute at any R&R
Oh ok thx
You might have to wait around 20 minutes to buy your fill if the location is busy
^
May be worthwhile to go to a lesser-traveled source and lose out a few credits on the profit for a faster turn-around.
Oh ok thank u so much, gonna grind up from 6k i have rn
The next best location sells at 0.9 so 9x the cost
For profitable hydrogen runs there's pretty much only one option and it's usually demand saturated
Scrap is usually the better option
Some guy was running diamonds from one outpost on Hurston to another on the other side of the planet. Dunno how that works out.
Weird
Lost connection while doing a cargo run, can I still get the cargo back if find the ship?
im making 5-10k on argo mole :S where can i farm smething good
Surface of yela
Go for hogh value ores at high % leave the rest. Until we can filter its not worth collecting the lower %
do i need to upgrade my miole weapons , i was farming yela outer ring found 1 ore cant scan or do a single dent
I think PO and leveski
I know the 12k head (s2) for the mole gliches out and dosnt work for me
So be careful if you invest in other types, the 108k one works
Im worried about the filter mechanics though they dont seem to want to add them
going to yela surface lets hope i can get decent money
Just ignore low value rocks :) low % rocks are not worth your time either. Some very valuable rocks cant be cracked without the 108k upgrade
Really going to suck when components need insurance / are lost on death for miners
ok ty
So, about Prospect mining heads worth change?
Get closer
k
Get point blank to it
ok thanks
It increases the power
Is that the standard laser head?
yes , i also have one cost 14k from port olisor
That's a 7+k mass rock
Too much mass
Gonna need more than one standard laser
Yea...
k ill try
standard didnt do much but the 14k from port olisor is doing lil 1-2% :S
maybe ill do some overclock
reached 11%
finally broke 😄
Prospector? Its good for solo mining :) quicker then the mole
thats the one i play too much eve haha
You can rent a prospector for 42k
Btw can u still avoid uee stopping u by exiting the pilot seat?
no idea
Wanna try to do some stim runs to see if its actually viable and then save up for the prospector
you should be able to make back 42k in like 2-3 runs
Yeah getting out of the seat still works to reduce interdictions
Oh ok thx
What planet is best to mine?
i still can not use my multi tool.. only way i got them to work. was when someone dropped on and i picked it up... next day it was gone and now it does not work
Go to your advanced key bind controls and find the interact key. If it doesn’t say anything then set it to letter R. Pull out your tool and press r and r again and click should fix.
the thing is.. I can not equip it.. i see it on me but it does not show up/
Yela has the best surface deposits
Lots of agricium
o7 Citizens. What are good trade routes now ?
Ok will have a look at it, thanks
@hollow sedge people like yela
is there any drug lab in 3.8?
A couple yeah
Jumptown on yela
Paradise cove and the Orphanage on Lyria
Private Property on Cellin
ok thank you
is all store stock limited to 5k?
None of them have markers
Depends on the store, stock, and most importantly, refresh speed
Check Gallog.co > trade > commodities
I want a private mine on cellin
I wish the Prospy had small arms on it to move rocks out of the way instead of just blowing up the inert or whatever
Imagine that mini game fun!
Any good prospector mining guides around? can't seem to figure out how to "properly" mine
Stay with stock until you can get the Hefwhatevername (I call it the Heffy) then save up for the Helix.
its about 12-13k for the Heffy.
got a hofsty
Thats the one. Lol understand why I call it the Heffy? lol
but what should i be focusing on in terms on compositions? higher % obviously for a mineral is better
anyway to filter out the garbage i dont want?
I think you want Agricium and Larinite
