okay so, when i click on “battle” it shows me a colorful black screen (like old glitchy tvs) and it just won’t go away

Could you please provide your Player ID, platform and server? Also, please contact Customer Care in-game so they can start looking into it - if it needs to go to the techs, it can take time so the earlier they can start, the better for your game 🙂
