These would be jobs accessible by medium sized cargo/general purpose ships, which involves going a straight line from one continent to another while occassionaly stopping every once in a while to lay cable sections before moving again.

The larger the distance the more it pays. And unlike regular transport jobs these would require the player to be more active to lay the cables.

^ maybe the job could be a rare event from pre-determined destinations to ensure the line is straight between 2 continents

also normally these jobs are done by special cable laying ships but I don't think we have those in the game
